Crocodiles, like snakes, are simultaneously fearsome, dangerous creatures and potent symbols of spiritual and psychic protection. Pregnant Isis, after all, hid in the crocodile infested swamps of the Nile Delta. It was the safest spot she knew.
In ancient days, the papyrus plant, which once lined the Nile, was a hieroglyphic emblem for Lower Egypt, especially that Nile Delta swampland. It also served as a protective emblem from crocodiles, lending new meaning to Moses’ cradle on the Nile, formed from papyrus. This symbol (shown below) can be used in a variety of ways to create a protective talisman.
- Draw the hieroglyph on parchment paper and carry it.
- For intensive protection, draw the hieroglyph onto the body with henna, or if danger is constant, consider a tattoo.
- Carry a photograph of living papyrus plants as a talisman or post it in a prominent location.
The Egyptian Book of the Dead suggests carrying the plant sweet inula to ward off crocodiles both living ones and those that haunt the spirit realm.
- Wear it in a charm bag to protect against actual visitations.
- Sleep with the herb in a dream pillow or beneath your pillow if unfriendly crocodiles are infesting your dreams.
From Burma we have this tidbit:
- Carry iron pyrites as a protective charm against crocodiles.
Crocodiles shed their teeth, continually growing new ones. Naturally shed teeth have a prophylactic effect: string them and wear on necklaces and anklets to prevent attack. Alternatively, carry the teeth in a medicine bag.
To make a crocodile charm bag, place a piece of gold pyrite into a drawstring bag together with crocodile teeth and/or an image of a crocodile. Carry for protection.

For this spell you will need to collect seven different types of money. For example: one of each of the following: penny, nickle, dime, quarter, fifty cent piece, dollar bill, and five dollar bill.
Next, collect seven different types of beans. For example: one each of the following: kidney bean, lima bean, black-eyed pea, garbanzo bean, soy bean, pinto bean, lentil.
NOTE: You can use any type of currency, and any kind of beans, as long as you have seven different types of money and seven different types of beans.
Place the money and the beans into a mojo bag. (Any small cloth or leather bag will be fine.) Write your financial desire onto a bit of brown paper and anoint it with money drawing oil, or dust it with Cinnamon. Place it in the bag with the beans and the money..
Close the bag and carry it with you every day, and sleep with it under your pillow every night until your desire has been fullfilled. When your desire is fulfilled, give the money away to seven different people, and bury the beans in seven different places. Then burn the piece of paper while giving thanks.

Jet and amber, crystallized botanical material rather than true minerals, work well in partnership. Beware of plastic replications of both.
For sleep, cast a circle around your bed with alternating pieces of jet and amber.
Alternatively, you can use a necklace. A necklace is just a circle cast around one’s self. Create a necklace from alternating amber and jet beads, focusing on your desire for peaceful, restful, healing sleep. Create as many knots as possible, tying your intentions into each knot. Wear your necklace to sleep.

For this spell you will need the following:
- a quiet place to work
- a smooth flat surface or table top
- one small cotton drawstring bag
- a small quartz crystal
- a small white candle
- equal parts of the following herbs: Rosemary, Lavender, and Chamomile
Clean your work surface and place the rosemary lavender and chamomile in a pile on the table in front of you. Light your candle, and take a deep cleansing breath. It is time to begin.
With your finger or fingers (which ever feels comfortable) draw a meandering path in the herbs – starting from the center. This represents the current flow of clarity that up till now has been the norm… take your time… enjoy the play of finger and herb…. this is the last time you will take a long and arduous journey to clear thought and vision.
When you are done “playing,” take the palm of your hand and smooth out the herbs, erasing the patterns and designs that were just drawn. Now, say:
Clarity of thought and mind
Come to me now and every time
I am yours and you are mine
Clear thought and vision intertwined
As you say those words, use your forefinger (your pointing finger) to draw a spiral design in the herbs starting from the inside out, drawing it in a counter-clockwise direction. This is the spell of undoing…. undoing the necessity for wavering and doubt… undoing dead ends and blind alleys.
Once again take the palm of your hand and smooth out the herbs, erasing the spiral design… do this slowly and thoughtfully… Now, once again say the words:
Clarity of thought and mind
Come to me now and every time
I am yours and you are mine
Clear thought and vision intertwined
and use your finger to draw a spiral design, this time moving from the outside in… in a clockwise direction… spiraling gently into the center, and when you are done place the crystal in that center spot.
Spend some time thinking about how easily clear thought and vision can spiral into your mind, your heart, your experience, your dreams, … how effortless it can be… a smooth gentle spiral… Imagine that the spiral is not just flat on the surface of your work space… but three dimensional… and real.
Repeat the spell words one last time… say it like you mean it. These are words of power. Claim them.
Clarity of thought and mind
Come to me now and every time
I am yours and you are mine
Clear thought and vision intertwined
Clap your hands 3 times, loudly ,.. and then quickly scoop the herbs and the crystal into your drawstring bag… pull the drawstring tight… It is done!
Any time you feel an extra need for clarity or vision … you can open the bag and inhale the scents. This spell is best performed when the moon is new.

We all suffer from stress at one time or another, and in a workplace it is often difficult to reverse the situation. This spell can be taken to your workplace or used in other stressful situations, with minimum disturbance. For healing and magic, the earth, or Mother Earth, from whence all things spring, is unsurpassed. Add a little Borage, the flower of courage, and some of your own essence, and even the most difficult of predicaments can be overcome.
Here is a Mediterranean spell to charge you with the strength to overcome a stressful situation. The items you will need are as follows:
- A handmade cloth bag
- Some dry earth
- A small bunch of Borage flowers
Instructions:
Make a small bag. It can be very plain and simple, but it is important that you stitch it together by hand, so that you are putting your self-essence into it. The bag needs to be large enough for you to get both hands inside, with a drawstring to secure it. As a special touch, embroider your initials on it in your favorite color.
On a bright, sunny day collect a few handfuls of dry earth and some borage flowers. Feel the sun’s rays warming your body and the flowers and the soil in your hands, and store the memory carefully.
Dry the Borage flowers, then place them with the earth in your bag. pull the drawstring to secure them. keep the bag in an accessible place. When things are going badly or you need a pick-me-up, it will only take a few moments to place your hands in the bag, touch the dried Borage flowers, reflect on your stored memories, and let Mother Earth work her magic.

The following spell is for drawing someone into a sexual relationship. Here’s how to do it:
Lay two sewing needles together, with the eye of one beside the point of the other. Wrap them in a mint or basil leaf, wrapping it toward you. Secure with a red thread, knotting in your desire.
Wrap this in a piece of red silk or satin, again rolling or folding toward you. Place this in a red flannel bag and wear it around your neck or waist.
To end the spell: Remove the charm, take it apart and break both needles.
To reinforce the charm: Feed it with three drops of dark rum added to the open bag.
Petition the Goddess Hecate to break your block through the use of her sacred emblems. Hecate’s attributes include:
- Key
- Broom
- Torch
- Cauldron
- Dragons
- Dogs
Collect charms representing these images to place on a charm bracelet. This is a spell in progress. Each time you locate a charm, consecrate it to Hecate and request that she unblock your roads. Wear the bracelet or carry it in a conjure bag, especially when free access is needed.
Other symbols associated with Hecate, and which could be included are:
Crossroads, New Moon, Number 3, Dagger, Serpent, Polecat, Owl, Willow, Star

Eggs are an ancient symbol of fertility, new life, and the cycle of birth, death and rebirth of the Universe. As such, they make terrific charms for fertility, pregnancy, new endeavors, and similar types of magick. These types of charms are fairly easy, and very versatile.
Start with raw eggs. My favorite tool to pierce the shell is a small nail ~ for some reason, I’ve never had good luck piercing the shells with needles.
Pierce the narrow end of the shell with a tiny hole. At the wider end of the egg, use the nail to pierce a wider hole. This is the trickiest part of the operation, but I’ve been lucky and only lost a few eggs. Just handle the eggs gently, and once you make the hole in the wider end, use the tip of the nail to gently enlarge the hole.
Then, for those of you who have never done this before, simply place your lips over the smaller hole and blow. (No, you don’t want to know what it looks like! LOL)
When the egg is blown out, place a finger over the smaller hole, and fill the egg about halfway with warm water. Shake well and rinse; do this several times to make sure the egg is completely cleaned out. Put in a safe place to dry.
When these blown-out eggs are dry, they can then be filled with various herbs and such, and decorated as charms. The decorations can be as simple, or as elaborate as you wish.
Here are some possible color, symbol and herb combinations for a few different magickal purposes:
- Fertility – Pregnancy: spring green or bright yellow; basil, poppy, cucumber, acorns, myrtle, all nuts, apple, pomegranate, mistletoe, myrtle; roosters and hens, spiral, the runic B, raindrops
- Protection: red, white or purple; ash, basil, dill, fennel, hyssop, mistletoe, rosemary, rue, vervain; pentagram, equal-armed cross
- Healing: green or blue (purple is good for severe illnesses); rosemary, red carnation petals, sage, saffron, lavender, myrrh; pentagram, oak leaves
When preparing the herbs to put inside these charms, they must be ground very fine. Remember, these are very tiny holes you will be putting them into.
Once the herbs are ground and charged, you are ready to pour them in. If you plan on hanging the eggs, you must first thread a cord or string through the egg. I would tie the knot at the smaller hole, leaving the larger hole to pour the herbs through.
If you don’t plan on hanging them, you could use any number of things to seal the hole, and provide additional magick. “Seals” that come to mind include acorns, small stones, pieces of wood and shells.
Fill the egg as much as possible with your herbal mixture of choice, and then seal the other hole. (Note, if you plan on hanging the eggs, this second seal is not vital; simply be careful where you hang it.)
My personal preference would be to decorate the egg first, and then fill it with herbs, but you do whichever works best for you.
Once the charm is completed and fully charged, you can either hang it up, or place it somewhere where the egg might remain intact. I would also plan on renewing these charms periodically.
