Freedom
This is a spell for when a toxic person, or unhappy relationship has left you feeling frozen and unable to move on. This spell calls for a “Ghost Apple.” You can read about the magickal qualities of Ghost Apples over at Magickal Ingredients. That post also includes a simple “how to” if you’d like to make a Ghost Apple for use in the following spell.
You will need the following ingredients:
- A Ghost Apple – “This is my problem”
- A plate – “It is on my plate”
- Incense or sage – “I purify with smoke”
- A feather – “I purify with air”
- A small candle – “I purify with fire”
- Salt – “I purify with salt”
- Paper towels – “I wipe the slate clean”
If you do the spellwork indoors, the Ghost Apple will melt quickly, so have everything ready in advance. Place the Ghost Apple on your plate and set them on your altar, saying” This is my problem. It is on my plate.”
Light the incense and hold the Ghost Apple over the top of it so that it fills with the smoke. As you do this, say, “I purify with smoke.” Place the Ghost Apple on your plate, and with the feather, “smudge” or brush the smoke from the incense around the outside of the apple. As you do this say, ” I purify with air.”
Sprinkle salt in a circle around the Ghost Apple, and then over the top of it. Say, “I purify with salt.” Wait and watch as the salt begins to melt the Ghost Apple. Imagine and feel your own walls melting and purifying.
Now, light the candle saying “I purify with fire.” Place the candle close to the Ghost Apple and feel your heart warming and expanding in love. Continue to meditate on this feeling until the Ghost Apple is completely melted and the candle has burned down. If water from the melting ice puts the candle out, that’s fine.
When the ice is completely gone, wipe up the water and salt with the paper towels, and clean the plate. As you do this, say, “I wipe the slate clean.”
Dispose of the paper towels and whatever is left of the incense, and the candle by dropping it into a trash bin far from your home.
Spell by Madame Fortuna
If you are trapped in a situation with another person and wish to sever the relationship with a minimum amount of hassle, wait until the dark moon. You will need:
- A black candle
- A fireproof bowl
- A pair of scissors
- A pencil or pen
- Two small pieces of paper
- String or thread
Light the black candle. Write your name on a small piece of paper and the other person’s name on the other piece. Tie the two papers together with a length of string or thread.
Lay the papers on your altar with the edges touching each other. Visualize things as they are now between the two of you. Slowly move the papers apart as far as the string will go. Visualize a peaceful separation with the two of you turning your backs and walking away. Now cut the string in the middle with the Scissors. Say:
I am free.
You are free.
We go our separate ways in peace.
Take the paper with the other person’s name on it, light it in the candle flame, and drop it in the bowl to burn up. Dispose of the ashes when they are cool.

(The libation is passed around, and blessed, and then poured out. Each member of the community may choose what work they will do that evening, and none is to be given orders, yet they must explain the following day why they did choose in that way.)

In southern Germany, the eisbeilige – the iceman days – is the brief cooling trend in May. The “ice saints,” Mamertius, Pancratius, and Servatus, were celebrated on May 11. Along with Cold Sophie, these “strong lords” are pagan figures who were turned into Christian saints were said to bring cold weather during planting season. They’d kill a budding tree or a field of sprouting wheat the minute they touched it with their frosty fingers or blew on it with their freezing breath. Farmers learned early on not to set plants out until after the ice saints had come and gone.
Sometimes we find ice saints in our lives, people whose presence chills our blood and infects our happiness with frostbite. They’re self-righteous, hypocritical, and extremely annoying. They’re bigger control freaks than we are and insist that a household chore or a ritual has to be performed “their way or the highway.” Sometimes they threaten physical harm. Sometimes they’re psychic vampires who steal our energy. Sometimes they’re thieves who steal our stuff or our work.
They’re all toxic people. We need to get them out of our lives. One banishing technique I like – but which must be done with finely focused aim and a strong intention to harm none – is to put the ice saint right where he or she belongs: in the freezer.
Write the person’s name and behavior on a piece of paper and bind it with black thread and thirteen knots. Say out loud exactly what the ice saint does that is toxic. Say out loud that you want to bind the behavior. You’re not out to injure the person, just to protect yourself and get him or her out of your life.
Put the piece of paper in a little jar, fill it with water, and put it in your freezer. Then take real-life action to get the ice saint out of your life.

This spell is for freezing out a witness or legal opponent, but it can be used for any situation where you wish to exclude someone from meddling in your affairs. For this spell to work, you must know the person’s name.
How to do it:
Write the name on a piece of paper (parchment is good) in pencil or India ink (preferably). Fold the paper in half, then in half again until you can’t fold it any more. As you do this, imagine that person’s influence freezing / stopping, that they cannot do anything until the thaw.
Then soak the paper in liquid (vodka works well but water is fine) and put it into a corner of your freezer. Leave it there for 30 days.
Note: If more than one person is involved, do each name on a separate piece of paper, and work each spell separately.
This spell works best if started on the day after a full moon so that the moon is waning for the first 15 days. It should stop the person or persons from influencing people or things about your business. It freezes them out.

Here is a spell for “freezing out” and getting rid of people, situations, and whatever else you don’t want to have in your life anymore. Just be sure that you really don’t want whatever it is that you put into this spell because it really does work.
You will need:
- Black Candle
- Aluminum Foil
- Picture of whatever (whoever) it is you want to get rid of – or you can just write it (names, situation, circumstances, etc) on a sheet of paper. Be as specific as possible.
Now, light the candle, lay the picture and/or the paper on a sheet of aluminum foil. Fold the foil with the paper/picture on it seven times. Seal the package with wax from the burning candle.
While you are sealing it say:
“No longer can you enter my life,
no longer can you cause me strife,
on ice you go. on ice you stay,
go you now away this day.”
Then place the package in the back of your freezer knowing it is done. Leave the package there until you are sure that the spell has worked. You can then remove it and drop it into a dumpster far from your home.
