It’s no accident that the caduceus, the staff entwined with double serpents, is the modern symbol of the medical profession. Snakes are the primary animals of healing and have been so since ancient days.
Once maintained in the temples of healing that were the first hospitals, their venom both heals and harms. Their old skin fades and grows dull, only to be shed painlessly as the snake emerges vivid and youthful once again, revived and refreshed. Because they lack limbs, snakes are always in contact with Earth. They burrow in Earth’s crevices, live in the sea and in trees; they are privy to all Earth’s secrets. Snakes are the guardians and sometimes sharers of Earth’s wisdom, the guardians of her treasures, including secrets of healing.
This magical diagnostic technique is especially suited for conditions that defy conventional identification or treatment. An image of a snake is required. It may be a photograph, a stone fetish, or other artistic rendering, however, it must fit comfortably under your pillow and not disturb your sleep.
- Bring the image to bed with you before going to sleep.
- Gaze into the snake’s eyes and charge it with its mission: to reveal the mysteries of your ailment and its required treatment.
- Place the image under your pillow, then go to sleep. The goal is to incubate the required dream.
- Repeat this ritual until the dream has been received, clarified, and understood and no further dreams are required.

Among its magic powers, alkanet not only allegedly protects against snakebite but also helps counter and control fears of snakes.

This is a ritual to invoke the protective power of a specific deity, and to create a lasting relationship that will be of benefit to you and your family. Generally, this is a ritual involving farm animals. It is most effective when the animal chosen is favored by the deity you are working to influence.
Here’s the ritual:
- A specific animal is chosen to be dedicated to a specific deity.
- Purify the animal with juniper incense.
- Sprinkle it with wine.
- Decorate the animal with ribbons in colors associated with the specific spirit.
The animal is then returned home or to its flock. It is now never ridden, worked or eaten, but is instead treated exceptionally well (or at least left alone to enjoy life) as a gesture of sacrificial devotion.
This treatment may be extended over the creature’s entire natural life or for a specified period of time, although this must be stipulated from the first initiation of the ritual.

You can perform this ritual for animals recuperating at home, as well as for those at the veterinarian. Light a white candle, and visualize a protective dome of warm soothing light surrounding your pet. When your emotions are calm and your thoughts are still, ask the Great Mother for her assistance by saying:
“Mistress of the Beasts,
send your healing, courage, strength, and love
to [pet’s name] in this time of need.”

Spread out a white handkerchief. On it, place a clipping of your pet’s hair and a picture of your home or one of you and your pet together. Imagine your pet back in its favorite inside place, sleeping contentedly. Keep this image in mind and say:
From this place you will not roam,
For you are safe and loved at home.
Whenever you leave, Return to me,
From this dawn onward. So mote it be!
Wrap the photo and hair in the hankie and tie it securely. Place it near your pet’s favorite inside place.

To hold a memorial for a special pet who has passed on, place a picture of your pet (preferably taken when it was in its prime) on your altar. Light directional candles, and place them around the picture. Light a black candle, and place it next to or on top of the picture. Meditate on your pet’s life and the joy it brought you. Look at the picture and speak words of peace for your pet’s soul:
Like the wind,
soar free through the heavens.
Like a flame,
warm the hearts of those who think of you.
let your spirit flow ever onward,
Like the earth,
be steadfast awaiting rebirth.
As the wheel turns,
may you find as much joy in your next life as you gave in this life.

This is a nice little spell that will draw money and prosperity to you. Here’s how it works.
You will need:
- 1 green candle
- 1 penny
- 1 nickel
- 1 dime
- 1 quarter
- 1 small magnet
- 9 fish hooks
- 5 teaspoons basil, dried
- 5 teaspoons orange peel, dried
- Green bottle with a cork.
Note: The mouth of the bottle must be wide enough to accommodate a quarter, and if you can’t find a green bottle, you can paint one green. Nail polish adheres very well to glass, and if you can find something with a gold sparkle in it.. that’s even better!
Place all of the materials in front of the candle and light the wick. Put the coins in the bottle one at a time while saying something like:
Penny, nickel, quarter, dime
Multiply in double time
Drop the magnet in and say:
Draw the cash to me.
Drop the hooks in one at a tie and say:
Grab it tight as it can be.
Sprinkle the spices over the top and say:
Spices, do your thing as well
To make this money grow and swell
Then offer the bottle to the Sun and say:
And Sun, shine brightly on this stash
To keep the flow of ready cash
Coming toward me every day
By my command, do as I say.
Using the candle, drop a bit of melted wax on the edges of the cork, and push the cork firmly into the bottle to seal it. Say something like:
By magnet and hook, by spice and coin
The fibers of the spell now join
By color of money, by light of the Sun
The magick of this spell is spun
By melted wax, this spell is sealed
Cash charm you are ~ Cash you shall yield.
Leave the bottle in front of the candle until the wick extinguishes itself, then place the bottle in a sunny spot in your home ~ a windowsill works well ~ where the golden rays of the Sun will shine on it each day.

Here is a really simple spell to remove obstacles by tapping in to the power of the setting sun.
You will need:
- A handful of sand or dry dirt
Holding the sand in your hand, face the setting Sun and ask His assistance by saying something like:
Ancient Sun, with Your last breath
Send obstacles now to their death
Destroy all fences, break all locks,
Rid me of all stumbling blocks
Bring them all to swift demise
So they can no longer rise
And hold me back from what I need
Or my ability to succeed
Crumble them just as this dust
So I move onward as I must.
Turn in a counterclockwise circle three times, while seeing obstacles being reduced to nothingness. Then, facing the Sun again, blow the sand from your hand. Know that the Sun will handle the problem.

- Small glass of orange juice
Take the juice outside at daybreak, and, facing east, offer it to the Infant Sun by saying something like:
O Infant born into the sky
I offer this to You on high
And offer thanks for Your arrival
And for the role You play in our survival
Turning clockwise, pour the juice on the ground in a circle around you. Then ask the Sun for a fresh start by saying something like:
Oh Infant Sun, I call to You
Who starts each day with life anew
Whose birth brings warmth and gives us joy
Whose light the darkness does destroy
Who separates the night from day
Who guides us with His gentle rays
Who gives us hope and makes us smile
Who makes each step we take worthwhile
Who inspires and cultivates
Fresh ideas and captivates
All who feel His golden light
I ask You, Infant Sun, so bright
To bring to me a new beginning
That puts me on the path to winning
What I desire most in my life ~
Free of needless stress and strife ~
Oh, bring to me a fresh new start
And I ask You, too, impart
Your courage as I tread anew
The path that I now ask of You
Bring this at once now, Infant Sun
As I will, so it be done.
Kiss your hand to the Sun and step over the juice circle. Go indoors and know that a brand new beginning is on its way.

Sometimes force, or balance magic has been used to create an item which is very dense in energy and vampire consciousness. Vampire consciousness simply refers to thoughts or ideas about vampires, or thoughts of vampires. When this combination exists in an item, it may be used by a willing creature to invoke vampirism in their own bodies.
There may be a word of power which is uniquely tied into the item and activates it, however generally they are used by concentrating on your desire. Occasionally these items are even powerful enough to be used to turn others into vampires, although this generally requires the use of someone with an extremely powerful or trained will.
There is also a theoretical possibility that a demon or spirit can give part of their power to a creature to allow them to change themselves into a vampire. This is different from regular demon induced vampirism in that the demon does not in whole become a part of the creature, but instead only a little bit of the demons power is used to initiate the reaction.
This speculation has arisen because many demons have offered this power to humans and other creatures, in exchange for the use of the expelled soul. However in every reported case the demon has betrayed the person as soon as they agreed, taking not only their soul but their bodies and minds as well.
