Kitchen Magick

Kitchen Magick

Prosperity Magick can be as simple as making soup. The key is to make the soup as if it was a magickal recipe. Imagine that everything you are doing is a metaphor for creating the life you would like to have.

For example:

Dicing the onion might make your eyes water, just as sometimes in life there are tears. The root vegetables speak of getting to the “root” of the matter, pulling out all the stops, getting back to basics, going deep… etc. The apple is the partaking of knowledge, or the harvest. Think about each ingredient and what it represents to you, and how it might bring you the prosperity you want to create.

The Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 large Yellow Beets, peeled and cubed
  • 1 small-medium carrot, chopped
  • 1 small potato, peeled and cubed
  • 1 bay leaf (opt)
  • 3 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 large tart apple, cubed
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt and pepper to taste

For Garnish:

  • Toasted bread crumbs or crushed croutons

Preparing the Soup:

As you cook the soup, consider how it may take some time for things to really come together for you in a good way. Create a chant, or use the one below, while you stir the soup, and imagine that you are stirring up all sorts of new deliciousness for your life.

Directions:

Heat the oil in a medium to large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and saute briefly until fragrant.

Add the beets, carrot, potato, bay leaf, and 1 cup of the broth. Turn down to a simmer at medium heat and allow to cook for about ten to fifteen minutes, or until the beets are tender.

Add the apple and 1 more cup of broth. Continue to cook for a few minutes until the apple is tender, about five more minutes. Remove the bay leaf (if using) and add the lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

Puree in with an immersion blender or in batches if using a tabletop blender.

Pour through a fine mesh strainer as you return the soup to the pot. Reserve the strained beets for a dumpling filler or yummy sandwich spread for later. Reheat the soup for about two minutes and serve.

While Stirring The Soup:

All things good, delicious and fine
Come together for me and are mine
I share with all who have a need
Because I know I will succeed.
Blessings to the earth.
Blessings to the sky.
Blessings on the soup and me and mine.

Serving the Soup:

When spooned into each bowl add some warmed milk or cream and swirl lightly with a spoon or chop stick to get a pretty spiral design. Top with croutons.

Take in each spoonful with gratitude. Savor the moment.

Recipe created by Gwendolyn Mathers

This dish accents creative communications, especially with those ever-annoying know-it-alls, wiseacres, gossips, conversation hogs, and those who are quick to jump into discussions just to hear themselves talk! The yellow parsnips, carrots, and pepper reflect the air element, which empowers our words.

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium carrots
  • 2 medium parsnips
  • 1 yellow pepper (large)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups sliced cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 (4-5 oz) fish fillets
  • Olive oil
  • 3/4 lbs sweet potato, peeled and cooked tender

Cut carrots, parsnips, and yellow pepper into thin strips. As you do, focus on “cutting through” anything that stands between you and speaking your mind.

In a large frying pan (indoors or on the side burner of your grill), place the butter, carrots, pepper, and parsnips to fry. As you notice the carrots and parsnips getting tender, add the cabbage into the fray, along with the vinegar and soy sauce.

Coat the vegetables evenly (you want the magick to flow evenly into all the components) while saying:

Parsnips, help me speak my mind
With carrots and cabbage, my magick binds
Potatoes put me on firm ground
Creative communications shall abound!

When the vegetables are close to being fully cooked, place the fish into a no-stick frying pan with just a touch of olive oil and cook over a low heat.

Using a knife, or toothpick if the fish is delicate, carve a symbol into the fillet that represents your goal. Brown the fish about 5 minutes on each side, adjusting for thickness.

Serve the fish on the bed of sweet potatoes, which will create a firm foundation for your spell. Since fish are symbolically associated with abundance, this dish makes sure you’re never at a loss for words!

NOTE: Enjoy a piece of mint candy or gargle with mouthwash before working this spell. Since you want to manifest the best possible communications, this emphasizes the goal from the inside out. Additionally, min supports effective interactions.

Here is a great spell to get energy moving and good things happening in any area of your life that feels “stuck”.

You will need:

  • Soft butter (margarine will do, but real butter is better)
  • Powdered ginger
  • Nutmeg
  • Sugar
  • A bowl you often use when cooking
  • Wooden spoon
  • Paper
  • Red pen, pencil, or marker

Take some time to think about what it is that feels stuck in your life. Do some journaling if it is helpful. This is a very powerful spell, and it is important to be really clear about what it is that you really want.

Now, write a sentence that defines what you want the “stuck” area of your life to be like. For example, if you feel that your are stuck in a bad relationship, your sentence might read. “I am enjoying a loving, committed, and healthy relationship with a really nice person.”

Using the soft butter and your finger, write your sentence on the inside of the bowl. The butter will smooth the way, so be liberal.

Now, on separate and small pieces of paper write down all the attributes, qualities, possibilites, and potentialities associated with your goal. They might look like this: “I am happy.” “My relationship is solid.” “I have a great relationship.” “Love is in my life.” “I am loved.” “My lover is kind.” “We have a healthy relationship.” “My lover respects me.”

Write these smaller affirmations in as many different ways as possible. Be specific, be creative, be inventive. Put them into the bowl. No need to fold them up, but you can if you want to.

When you have all of your affirmations written and added to the bowl, add a pinch of ginger, a generous dash of nutmeg, and a teaspoon of sugar.

Now take your wooden spoon and mix it up. As you mix, say the following spell three times:

Ice into water
The winds bring change
Wood becomes fire
Nothing stays the same

All is well
All is well
All is well

Every day for 7 days, mix up your affirmations and repeat the spell. At the end of 7 days, burn the affirmations in a fire. As you do this, say thank you to the invisible world for the changes that have already begun.

If you need to banish something from your life, prepare a pot of soup. Draw a banishing pentagram in the soup, then stir nine times counterclockwise, saying:

“Blessed Lord, gracious Lady, hear my plea.
Remove (insert what needs removal) from me.
For the good of all, with harm to none;
once this is eaten, the spell is done!”

Eat the soup.

If you are madly in love and wish it to go full steam ahead, make him this excellent supermarket-ingredient love potion:

Get yourself some orange juice, some spring water, some rose water and a dash of nutmeg.(Oranges are very potent symbols of love, if your partner brings you one you can be sure he adores you.) Anyway, blend a beautiful refreshing drink from the above (don’t overdo the nutmeg) and drink it with your lover-you don’t have to tell him what it’s for. Look into his eyes – you’ll see the truth there about your future once he’s downed this powerful concoction.

Chocolate is said to be an aphrodisiac, a mild euphoric, and helps to heal depression. It is therefore extremely effective in love potions and spells. In this spell two ingredients are brought together to help you to enchant your loved one. Strawberries are well known as lovers’ fruits.

You will need the following items for this spell:

  • Strawberry incense
  • Pink candles
  • A plate of strawberries
  • Melted chocolate

Casting Instructions:

Be very clear in your own mind what you want to happen before you start. Be aware that it is not right to influence the other person against their will or their natural inclinations. You should use this spell to prepare the ground for true relationship.

Light the candles and the incense. Dip each strawberry in the chocolate. As you do so, visualize you and the other person together enjoying one anther’s company, becoming closer and so on.

Say the words below (or something similar) as you prepare the fruit:

Lover, lover, come to me
And even then you shall be free
To come, to go just as you please
Until to stay your heart decrees.

Do be aware that you have not put a time limit on this so if you cannot handle such an open relationship choose different words.

As you enjoy the fruit together be prepared to take responsibility for what occurs. This spell can be quite powerful, particularly if you use the same pink candles when your lover arrives. Strawberries and chocolate both come under the rulership of Venus the Goddess of Love, though there is a belief that Jupiter also has a connection with strawberries.
