Gypsy Magick
Gypsy Magic – An Overview
Here is an overview of our project: Gypsy Magic, does it work? This post provides links to pertinent aspects of this project, so that you won’t have to sift through the archives to find out what you want to know.
Our original idea and statement of intent is here. If you would like to try this project for yourself, a complete listing of needed supplies can be found here, and here are some ideas for a Gypsy Fun day.
Most of the spells work best if done during the correct phase of the moon. I have embedded an active moon phase widget at the bottom of the individual post pages so that it will be easy to check and see where the moon is.
If you begin with the new moon, you can start on Day One: Bringing Money Home, and then continue on thru Day Thirty: Out with the old. Or, you can pick the spells that seem interesting to you and do them according to the phases of the moon.
As you do the spells, we encourage you to post your thoughts, ideas, results, joys and disappointments as you go. This is an active blog, and if you post, we will notice and reply.. and give you the benefit of our own experience and our support if it seems pertinent or appropriate.
The basic summary of our results is posted here: Gypsy Magic: Our Results
We do have a recommended reading list if you are interested in expanding your understanding and it can be found here: Recommended reading
This project stimulated a “spin off” blog called Gypsy Magic Spells and Charms which was originally hosted on blogger, and is now being migrated here, to shirleytwofeathers.com, the new blog is called Gypsy Magick and Lore. As that site grows, you will find an ever evolving treasure trove of information about Gypsies and a wide variety of spells. Check it out, it’s really cool.
As promised, here is the complete listing of the daily posts for the Gypsy Magic 30 day project, a long with the suggested moon phase and/or day of the week for optimal results:

Gypsy Magic: Our Results
The time has come now to report your experiences and results with Gypsy Magick. Here are some questions to help get the conversation started:
- Was it fun?
- Did it work?
- Your favorite spell? Your least favorite spell?
- Was it easy? Hard?
- Did you learn anything?
- Would you do it again?
- How many spells did you do?
- Is there anything else you want to say about it?
What follows are the results that were reported.

It worked really well for me. I met all my goals. And it was a blast! My favorite spell was the wealthy week spell, where I lit a candle surrounded by money.
I learned so much by doing this. I learned that money can be my friend. It can come and go.. just like friends do. But when the money goes – it doesn’t mean the relationship is over. Just like when a friend leaves my home, it doesn’t mean that I won’t ever see them again.
I also learned a lot from the toilet paper spell. I have been able to let go of anxiety over my checking account being depleted when I pay bills.. I just think of how the toilet tank has to refill after flushing..
I think the most important thing I came away with is a friendliness towards my money and my bills.
The “removing misfortune” spell, burying bottles with garlic and thorns on church property while saying the lord’s prayer was way too much fun.. I haven’t had that kind of fun in years.. so that was by far and above my best “experience”.
The hardest spells were the last ones.. the ones to remove blocks.. I found myself really challanged with the doing of them. Interesting huh?
And yes, I would do it again. And again. And again. I love being a “gypsy witch”.. and I love making magic.

I can’t say I had very good luck with the gypsy magic, but things didn’t get worse, anyway! I didn’t have time to do a lot of the spells and hope to do them at a later date. I’m glad so many other people had good luck with it! I also need to work on the ones that remove blocks!

Hi guys, Well I just loved the Gypsy Magic. I had so much fun doing all the spells. I think I am following in my mom’s footsteps, I am a Gypsy Witch at heart also.
I believe that it worked. I had a lot of luck with it. I too had trouble doing the unblock spells. I can honestly say that I did every spell, every day, until it was time for the unblocking spells.
I loved all the spells I did, but I think the two I liked the best was the full moon spell with the white candle and the mint, and the urgent money spell.
The ones didn’t like as much was the unblocking spells…hmmm… I wonder what that means? I guess that is why I am not fully prosperious yet.
I am going to continue to do some of the spells and I am really going to work on the unblocking spells. Anyway, well I had lots of fun with this and I hope the next one is as fun. I am sure it will be.
Out with the old
If you think deeply about the start of any period of bad luck, you will find that there is some object that you acquired round about then or that you used or wore quite a lot. Maybe it is something that brings back recollections of an unhappy event. It can be an ornament, an item of clothing, a photograph, or even a kitchen utensil.
Place the said object near the back door of the house. Then, using a broom, and starting at the top of the house or in the room furthest from the back door, sweep each room in turn, working in a counter clockwise direction. As you work, visualize darkness being swept away in front of you. The darkness is black heavy clouds of bad luck. It can’t resist your broom. While you sweep, say,
“I banish the dark clouds from my home, bad luck be gone, there is no place here for you. Be gone, be gone, be gone!”
Any dust can be swept on to a shovel and taken with you as you go. Do each room in turn until you reach the back door, then put all the sweepings into a bag outside. Take the object previously mentioned and break or tear it, venting all your anger and frustration. Put the pieces into the bag with the dust. Sprinkle the contents with salt, saying,
“By this salt, cleansing gift of the earth, I render you powerless.”
Now bury the bag. If it is at all possible, bury it at a crossroads or by running water, but if this is not practical bury it in the garden or at the bottom of the rubbish bin. Before covering the bag with earth, or rubbish, sprinkle it with salt, making a pattern of a cross within a circle, saying,
“By this salt, by this sign you are gone from my life.”
Now reversing the order of the rooms, from the back door to the top of the house walk round each room clockwise with a lighted candle, preferably colored pink or gold, and a lighted incense stick perfumed amber or rose (or a scent that you really love). Alternatively if there is a particular perfume (or essential oil) that makes you feel happy, use that. As you walk, say,
“I bring light, joy, luck, and love into every corner of my home and life.”
Visualize each room being filled with bright golden light, every corner bursting with hope and joy. When you have done, return to the room most often used and leave the candle and incense to burn out naturally. Take time to enjoy the new feeling of happiness filling your home.

Silver and Sugar
Fill a silver spoon with sugar, and carry it around the house in a counter clockwise direction.
The silver spoon will banish negativity, and the sugar will empower and sweeten your opportunities. Leave the spoon undisturbed for seven hours, and then cast the sugar to the winds, asking for speedy, positive changes in your life.

Prosperity In A Cup
So here is a spell that anyone can do:
Blow bubbles with a straw in your morning coffee
to bring about a prosperous day.
-oOo-
I know it sounds kind of silly, but I found it in all three of my books on Gypsy Magic. So I am assuming that it works. And I think that if the bubbles show up spontaneously – that’s even better.

Diminish Our Debt
This is a great spell for helping you diminish any debts you may have incurred, including those standard monthly debts otherwise known as bills.
The word abracadabra is extremely ancient and can be a powerful invocation to rid oneself of sickness and poverty. In this spell, we are going to use it to diminish bills and debt.
As soon as any bill comes in, write the following on the envelope:
ABRACADABRA
ABRACADABR
ABRACADAB
ABRACADA
ABRACAD
ABRACA
ABRAC
ABRA
ABR
AB
A
Now turn the bill over and write the full amount that you owe in that same diminishing way. For example:
$30480.00
$30480.0
$30480
$3048
$304
$30
$3
$
Put your bill into a large manila envelope until you are ready to pay it. The envelope can be decorated with symbols, images, and/or affirmations that represent “diminishing”. For example: a picture of the waning moon, the words “I release and I let go”, the abracadabra, or whatever feels appropriate.
At the end of the month, or whenever a particular bill is paid. Roll the envelope up that it came in, sprinkle it with vinegar and burn it.

Banish bills, worry, and bad vibes
This is a very powerful banishing spell to pull worry, fear, bad vibes, unpaid bills, (and just about anything that contributes to negativity) out of your home and out of your life. It can be done anytime during the full or waning moon.
Supplies needed:
- A cheap plastic planter (or container) about the size of a tub of Margarine
- Potting soil
- A brown egg
- A brown marker or crayon
- Candle (brown, red, or white)
- Incense
- Tablespoon of brown sugar
- Water
- Three cloves of garlic
Instructions:
If you are using a margarine or other plastic container, punch a couple of holes in the bottom of it for drainage. Fill it about 1/3 full of potting soil. With the brown marker or crayon, write on the egg the things that you want to banish from your life and your home. For example: unpaid bills, financial instability, worry, bad luck, etc. You can write as
many things as will fit.
Light the candle and the incense. Pass the egg through the smoke (from the incense). As you do this, say:
Nothing can stand
Nothing can stay
By fire and air
All worries away
Now pass the egg across, through, over, or around the candle flame. Be careful not to burn your fingers. As you do this, say:
Nothing can stand
Nothing can stay
By fire and air
All worries away
Now walk around your house carrying the egg. As you go into each room imagine that all the negative energy, all the worry, all the fear, all the things you have written on that egg are being pulled out of the environment and are being sucked into the egg in your hand. Take your time, don’t rush the process.
Imagine also that any thing within your own self that might be contributing to the things you want banished are also being sucked into the egg.
When you have walked through each room, and when you have cleared your own energy, press the egg GENTLY into the planter (or container) with the soil in it. Sprinkle it with brown sugar to sweeten the energy. Cover it completely with more potting soil, filling the container all the way up. As you do this, say:
Nothing can stand
Nothing can stay
By water and earth
All worries away
Pour water into the planter slowly, being careful not to flood it and at the same time making sure that the soil is thoroughly moistened. As you do this, say:
Nothing can stand
Nothing can stay
By water and earth
All worries away
If necessary, add more soil so that your egg is well covered. Now press the three cloves of garlic into the wet soil and wait for them to sprout. This may take several days. The garlic will absorb and disperse any negativity. When the garlic has sprouted, take the container to a grave yard. Set it down wherever seems appropriate, and walk away without looking back.

Flushing Our Bills Away
Here is something easy and simple. It’s probably not an “authentic” gypsy magic spell, but I think it’s worth doing. Here’s how it goes:
- List your bills separately on toilet paper.
- And flush the toilet paper down the toilet.
As you are doing this, remember that what comes in must also go out. And that’s OK. Because you are in the flow. Prosperity flows through you just as easily as the water that you see swirling down and out.
As soon as that tank fills up, you will be able to flush again. As soon as your check book fills up you will be able to pay bills again. No worries.. no fears..
It’s a flow.. money comes in.. money goes out..

Urgent Money Spell
The Romanies say that when money is urgently needed by a certain date, this spell works wonders. One thing to remember: it must be performed at the witching hour of midnight.
Take one white votive (or tea light) candle to represent each $100 or $1,000 that you critically need. Stand them on a plate you often eat from.
At a quarter to midnight, sit in a room with no electric lights. Light a gold or silver, green or white candle (not one of those representing the needed money). This is the candle that will give power to the “money” votive candles and will enable you to see what you are doing.
Now work your magic. Pray for a circle of gold light to be placed around you for protection and for a circle of blue light to be placed around you for healing.
Pick up a votive candle and light it from the main candle flame. As you do so, say that the votive you are lighting represents the $100 or $1000 you need. Place on the plate to begin a circle of “money” candles.
Light each votive, and say the same words for each, until the circle is complete.
Say a prayer explaining that you are not being greedy; that the money is necessary. Leave the candles to burn out of their own accord. The money will soon start winging its way to you.

Easy Money
Light a green candle. Let it burn for five minutes, then blow it out. Rub your hands in the smoke and imagine money coming to you.
