Magical Thinking

As I have been working this project, it occurred to me that these little things we are doing might actually be described as tiny magic spells…. we have an action and an invocation. Simple Magick.

I love this idea so much, that I put a note on my bathroom mirror that says, “I am magickal.” Not only does this lift my mood, it gives me an added incentive to remember our Five Simple Things.

We’ve been working on this for about a week now, how’s it going for you? Any ideas, insights, experiences, thoughts, and suggestions that you might want to share are deeply appreciated.

Letting Go

“Before you fall asleep,
visualize chords connecting you to everybody you met that day,
and send their Energy back to them.”

What a great idea! And no matter how hard I try, I cannot remember to do this. I am now contemplating hanging a note from the ceiling over my bed. Part of the problem is that I have a bad habit of falling asleep on the couch and then stumbling off to bed at some point late into the night.

One idea I had was to visualize and disconnect those chords whenever I get home from work, or the store, or wherever I may have gone during the day. As I get out of the car, do the disconnect. I could leave myself a note in my car, which would help me to remember. The drawback to this is that I don’t go very many places these days.

Alternatively, I could post a note on my front door, and do the disconnect before I go into the house. This would prevent me taking “stuff” home with me. But again, these days I’m not leaving home very often.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for how to make this a regular practice, I’m definitely interested.

Unlocking Opportunities

Number four of our five simple things is as follows:

Every time you use keys, visualize they are unlocking opportunities to get you closer to your dreams.

This is an awesome idea. I really like it. Why can’t I remember to do it? I have not remembered it even one time. And the last time I unlocked something, I knew that keys and unlocking were part of this project, but for the life of me I couldn’t remember what the heck I was supposed to do.

I even thought of a couple of different ways to approach the concept, like for example:

  • When opening a jar think about opening up to new ideas, experiences, and knowledge.
  • When opening a door, think about moving forward with my goals, ideas, and/or life.

I haven’t been successful at remembering those either. I guess I am feeling blocked on the idea of moving forward, unlocking, opening up, unblocking… any kind of movement forward. Or maybe I just need to put a note to myself on my key ring… LOL.

So what about you guys? Thoughts? Ideas? Experiences? Inspirations? Comments? Complaints? Observations? Opinions?

Simple Thing #3

I love the idea of Simple Thing #3, which is infusing creativity and productivity into my coffee and/or tea … and I have tried doing it. But what happens to me is that I either forget until after the I have finished drinking it, or I remember when I am stirring it, and then my mind immediately goes to the phrase “stirring up some trouble” or even “double trouble boil and bubble” which I absolutely do NOT want.

So, I’ve been rummaging around in my brain trying to come up with viable solutions, and so far I have come up with these two:

  • I look into my cup of and I say, “Thank the Gods! Now everything is going to be OK.” And when I say it, I actually mean it.  Very easy for me because this is basically what I do anyway.
  • In the evening when I drink tea, I usually heat up the water in the microwave, and when I do, I began a practice of imagining that the water in my cup is being thoroughly and completely infused with love and light.

That second one is a little harder to remember, so I wrote myself a note and put it on the door of the microwave. Now, whenever I nuke my food, I envision Love and Light infusing it. So that’s been fun, and it might even be good for me.

What about you? Have you been finding it easy to infuse your coffee and/or tea with creativity and productivity? Is it hard to remember? Do you have any ideas or insights? I’d love to hear what you have to say.

Coming Clean

I have been mulling over the best way to really get excited about our #2 simple thing which is:

“When showering,
visualize shimmering gold water with protective light
filling up your aura.”

By biggest problem with this is that I don’t take a shower every day, and when I do shower… it doesn’t occur to me until after I am done. So… What I came up with was a practical substitute that works for me.

Since we are in the midst of a pandemic, and I am having to work, I find myself washing my hands all the time. And I thought to myself that there must be a way to use hand washing instead of showering. But, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t equate hand washing with my aura filling up with light.

My solution was as follows:

  • Whenever I wash my hands I envision myself “washing my hands of…” and then I think of whatever is foremost in my mind that I really actually would like to let go of.
  • Also, since hand washing now is kind of long and drawn out, I imagine that I am washing away any bad karma, bad vibes, or negative bullshit that I might have “picked up” during the course of the day.

It seems to be working well for me, with the added bonus of being sure that I have spent enough time with the lathering, and germ killing practical side to the hand washing.

How about you? What is your experience with our second simple thing? Any insight or experience you’d like to share?

Day Two and Something New

It’s day 2 of Five Simple Things, and I’m already wanting to add something new to the mix. Here’s why:

I am finding it really really hard to say “Thank you” three times before my feet hit the floor in the mornings. I can say it, but I don’t really mean it, and I definitely don’t feel it. However, I can and do find it really easy substitute the following thank you’s as I go through my day:

  • Intense gratitude and a warm thank you whenever I turn on the faucet and hot water comes out. Yay! I love having hot water… beats the heck out of cold water when you want to take a shower.
  • And when I do take a shower, wow… so grateful that my shower actually works, that hot water comes out of it, and there is water pressure and everything! More than a year of not having those things really builds an appreciation for them. Truth!
  • Every morning I drink coffee in my Magick room, surrounded crystals, art, and all kinds of cool magickal stuff.. and I am so grateful to the Powers That Be who help and support me when I am desperate. So so grateful! I never leave the room without a big thank you to the Gods, my Guides, and my Angels.
  • My car… I love my car. She has 270,000+ miles on her and never breaks down in an inconvenient place or at a terrible time. Recently I had to have some car repairs made, and I talked to her all the way to the repair shop… telling her how much I love her and how grateful I am for her hard work and reliability. Her name, by the way is Betty.

As for the ideas of shimmering gold water with protective light filling up your aura, blessing my morning coffee, using my keys to unlock opportunities, and the before I fall asleep energy release… I have yet to remember to do any of them.

So now that I think I have the “gratitude” part pretty much locked down, I’ll put my mind to work on the other four. Maybe I just need to tweak them in a way that works for me.

What about you? Any ideas, insights, experiences? Do you find these super easy to remember? or super easy to forget?

Let’s Get Started

This is day one of our Five Simple Things project. When starting one of these projects, I like to make a note of what it is that I’d like to accomplish in the next 30 days, or how I am hoping the project will be of benefit. This way, when the 30 day project is complete, I can look back and get an idea of how well it worked, or didn’t work, whatever the case may be.

My comments are posted below, and I’d love to know what you are hoping for, expecting, or wishing would happen for you. Have fun trying this out. As always, your comments are deeply appreciated.

A New Project?

Hi guys. Well, it’s been a little over a year since our last project. So much has happened both in my personal life and in the world at large… I’m sure the same holds true for you. And now I think it’s time for a new project.

Beginning July 5th, we are beginning a new project. This time around we will be committing to doing five simple things. It looks pretty easy, the hardest part will be remembering to do them. I am hoping to make a habit of them, so we’ll see what happens. Anyway, those simple things are as follows:

  • Every morning say “Thank You” three times before your feet hit the floor.
  • When showering, visualize shimmering gold water with protective light filling up your aura.
  • Bless your morning coffee/tea with vibes of productivity and creativity.
  • Every time you use keys, visualize they are unlocking opportunities to get you closer to your dreams.
  • Before you fall asleep, visualize chords connecting you to everybody you met that day, and send their Energy back to them.

The inspiration for the project came from a Facebook share. It looks simple, it sounds easy, and I think it is worth a try. I haven’t been able to come up with a theme or plan of action when it comes to posting about the project on a daily basis, so I’m just going to wing it.

If you are new to the project, here’s how it works. We each commit to 30 days of doing our best to explore, experience, and/or do the tasks, ideas, or concepts presented. Along the way, we comment and share how it’s working for us, the ups, the downs, the stuff that comes up. When the 30 days are up, we take a look back and decide if what we did was worth continuing, or if what we learned was worth sharing.

If you want to participate, I would love to have you on board. All that is required is a willingness to give it a go. To keep the idea fresh in everyone’s mind, I try to post something relevant but new every day for the full 30 days.

To stay in the loop you can either like and follow our Facebook page. If you like, comment, and share our Facebook posts, it gives a real boost of energy and enthusiasm to the project. So, thank you in advance for your support.

If you are not a Facebook fan, you can subscribe to the feedburner feed (scroll down and you will find it). If you subscribe to the feed, you will receive an email notification whenever something new is posted. I think this notification comes at the end of the day, but I am not sure, because that is all done through feedburner. You will not get spammed. Only feedburner will get your email address, and all you will receive is a notification of what was posted. So, that’s pretty simple and easy to do.
