Prayers

Finding Your Life’s Purpose

Here’s a prayer to help you discover your overall life’s purpose, as well as get direction about the next step to take. Your prayer will likely be answered with a combination of Divine guidance and signs.

Divine guidance includes internal messages such as feelings, thoughts, ideas, and visions that tell you what your heart truly desires. Signs are repetitious messages that you see or overhear coming from sources other than yourself, such as a phrase that you continually see on posters, in newspapers, or that you hear people say.

It’s best to write down these inner and outer messages and look for a constant theme that will direct you to your next step … and overall purpose.

Archangel Michael . . . Jesus . . . Saint-Germain . . . and Vywamus . . . you can see what is the best next step for me to take. I need to hear, feel, and see this information clearly. I need to have faith in taking this next step. I need to feel courage and excitement about this next step. Thank you for supplying me with information, encouragement, and motivation.

Archangel Cahmuel . . . Brigit . . . Saint Francis . . . Thoth . . . and my higher self . . . beloved and Divine teammates in my life purpose, I am grateful for your clear guidance about my life purpose. I am grateful because I truly believe that I deserve happiness, success, and abundance. I am grateful to know that I am worthy of receiving your help and support. Thank you, God. Thank you, divinities. Thank you all.

Meditation To Meet Your Guardian Angel

The following prayer should be spoken, mentally or aloud before making contact with your angels. You should change it so it’s one you feel comfortable saying.

Address the prayer to one or more of the following: God, Goddess, Holy Spirit, Jesus, Archangel Michael and the angels, QuanYin, Mother Mary, Mohammed, Moses, St. Germain, Father Wind, Mother Earth, a specific Goddess, Saint or Master.

I ask your protection and help in giving me detailed information from my guardian angels that will help me attain my highest purpose and joy. Please protect me from all fear and negativity and assure that who I intend comes through as a clear channel for the light.
Thank you so much for your love and assistance.
Amen

Sit in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Place both feet on the ground and begin to mentally prepare for you meditation. Begin by grounding and centering yourself. Close your eyes and imagining roots growing from your feet into Mother Earth.

Then follow this simple breathing exercise to relax your physical body: breathe in through your nose, hold it for 7 seconds, and release it very slowly through your mouth. Repeat 3 times then unconsciously continue breathing this way throughout the meditation. Tell your Ego-self (or lower self) to stand aside. Mentally tell the Ego-self it is silenced now and know it is so.

Ask the Holy Spirit to surround you in a beam of white protective light. The Holy Spirit will immediately respond and beams down a ray of protective white light.

Imagine yourself in a beautiful place, it can be a forest, a meadow, a beach, wherever you will feel comfortable. Find a comfortable spot in this beautiful place to rest and relax.

Now, in your mind’s eye, look around you, and notice a path. It is a beautiful path filled with love. This path is very long; it seems to go on and on—you can’t see the end of it. Keep your focus on this path.

Mentally ask for your Guardian Angel to come forth. Express your interest in wanting to meet him/her. See an illuminated ball of light in the distance.

It may be white or may be a color. Notice the color you see. See it slowly coming closer and closer becoming aware that the light is getting larger as it comes closer to you. Your Angel may decide to make itself known in another form. Just let this happen. Note what the light looks like as it come closer

Now your angel is directly in front of you. There may be more than one as your other angels, guides, relatives and pets may want to connect with you.

Greet your angel. You may get impressions, emotions, and tingly feelings. Its not uncommon for Angels to talk to you in your own voice, so don’t discount your inner voice as your imagination. Feelings of love, encouragement and warmth are most common markers of Angelic contact.

Thank your Angel for all the times that they have helped you, comforted you and protected you. Mentally invite the intervention, guidance and assistance of your Angel in your life from this point onwards.

Ask your angel the name they wish to be called. Angels’ true names are unpronounceable by us. They will either make up a name or let you choose one. If you don’t get one right away, don’t worry. You may get a color or a musical note, every contact is different. Just know that whatever you receive is correct for you.

Ask your angel to communicate any messages to you. Absorb any communication such as thoughts, visions, knowingness and feelings, love and emotions.

Ask your angel any questions you have, one at a time. Note the answers. Don’t doubt the information or emotions you are given, just let your angel communicate to you in their own way.

Now say the following prayer to your guardian angel:

Angel of God, my guardian dear
To whom God’s love commits me here
Ever this day, be at my side
To light and guide,
To rule and guard,
Thank you!

Now ask the Creator to bless you and your Angel. See the both of you showered by the Light and Love from the Divine

Thank your Angel for meeting you in this meditation. Let your angel know you look forward to contacting them again soon Know they are always by your side.

Focus on grounding and centering yourself by picturing the roots from your feet into Mother Earth. Pause a moment and open your eyes.

Did you get a name? If not, don’t worry, sometimes just feeling your angel’s energy is enough in the beginning.

Great One Of Heaven

Great One of Heaven,
Power of the Sun,
we invoke thee in thine ancient names –
Micheal, Balin, Arthur, Lugh;
come again as of old into this thy land.
Lift up thy shining spear of light to protect us.
Put to flight the powers of darkness.
Give us fair woodlands and green fields,
blossoming orchards and ripening corn.
Bring us to stand upon thy hill of vision
and show us the path
to the lovely realms of the gods.

– J and S Farrar

Canticle of the Sun

Most high, all-powerful, all good, Lord!
All praise is yours, all glory, all honor
And all blessing.

To you alone, Most High, do they belong.
No mortal lips are worthy
To pronounce your name.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through all that you have made,
And first my lord Brother Sun,
Who brings the day; and light you give to us
through him.

How beautiful is he, how radiant in all his splendor!
Of you, Most High, he bears the likeness.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Moon and Stars;
In the heavens you have made them, bright
And precious and fair.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air,
And fair and stormy, all the weather’s moods,
By which you cherish all that you have made.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Water,
so useful, lowly, precious, and pure.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Brother Fire,
Through whom you brighten up the night.
How beautiful he is, how joyful!
Full of power and strength.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Earth,
Who feeds us in her sovereignty and produces
Various fruits and colored flowers and herbs.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through those who grant pardon
For love of you; through those who endure
Sickness and trial.

Happy those who endure in peace,
By you, Most High, they will be crowned.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Death,
From whose embrace no mortal can escape.

Woe to those who die in mortal sin!

Happy those She finds doing your will!
The second death can do no harm to them.

Praise and bless my Lord, and give him thanks,
And serve him with great humility.

Hymn To The Sun

Shamash was the Sun God of ancient Babylon. The prayer that follows is one of the longest and most beautiful of the hymns that have come down to us in cuneiform. I think this would make an awesome invocation, prayer, or meditation to greet the Sun as morning dawns.

Hail Shamash

You climb to the mountains surveying the earth,
You suspend from the heavens the circle of the lands.

You care for all the peoples of the lands,
And everything that Ea, king of the counselors, had created is entrusted to you.

Whatever has breath you shepherd without exception,
You are their keeper in upper and lower regions.

Regularly and without cease you traverse the heavens,
Every day you pass over the broad earth. . . .

Shepherd of that beneath, keeper of that above,
You, Shamash, direct, you are the light of everything.

You never fail to cross the wide expanse of sea,
The depth of which the Igigi know not.

Shamash, your glare reaches down to the abyss
So that monsters of the deep behold your light. . . .

Among all the Igigi there is none who toils but you,
None who is supreme like you in the whole pantheon of gods.

At your rising the gods of the land assemble,
Your fierce glare covers the land.

Of all the lands of varied speech,
You know their plans, you scan their way.

The whole of mankind bows to you,
Shamash, the universe longs for your light. . . .

Every single person is entrusted to your hands;
You manage their omens; that which is perplexing you make plain.

You observe, Shamash, prayer, supplication, and benediction,
Obeisance, kneeling, ritual murmurs, and prostration.

The feeble man calls you from the hollow of his mouth,
The humble, the weak, the afflicted, the poor,
She whose son is captive constantly and unceasingly confronts you.

He whose family is remote, whose city is distant,
The shepherd [amid) the terror of the steppe confronts you,
The herdsman in warfare, the keeper of sheep among enemies.

Shamash, there confronts you the caravan, those journeying in fear,
The travelling merchant, the agent who is carrying capital.

Shamash, there confronts you the fisherman with his net,
The hunter, the bowman who drives the game,
With his bird net the Fowler confronts You.

The prowling thief, the enemy of Shamash,
The marauder along the tracks of the steppe confronts you.

The roving dead, the vagrant soul,
They confront you, Shamash, and you hear all.

You do not obstruct those that confront you. . . .
For my sake, Shamash, do not curse them!

You grant revelations, Shamash, to the families of men,
Your harsh face and fierce light you give to them. . . .

The heavens are not enough as the vessel into which you gaze,
The sum of the lands is inadequate as a seer’s bowl…….

You deliver people surrounded by mighty waves,
In return you receive their pure, clear libations. . . .

They in their reverence laud the mention of you,
And worship your majesty for ever. . . .

Which are the mountains not clothed with your beams?
Which are the regions not warmed by the brightness of your light?

Brightener of gloom, illuminator of darkness,
Dispeller of darkness, illuminator of the broad earth.

Presenting An Infant To The Sun

Now this is the day.
Our child,
Into the daylight
You will go out standing.
Preparing for your day,
We have passed our days.
When all your days were at an end,
When eight days were past,
Our sun father
Went in to sit down at his sacred place.
And our night fathers
Having come out standing to their sacred place,
Passing a blessed night
We came today.
Now this day
Our fathers,
Dawn priests,
Have come out standing to their sacred place.
our sun father,
Having come out standing to his sacred place,
Our child, it is your day.
This day,
The flesh of the white corn,
Prayer meal,
To our sun father
This prayer meal we offer.
My your road be fulfilled
Reaching to the road of your sun father,
When your road is fulfilled
In your thoughts may we live,
May we be the ones whom your thoughts will embrace,
For this, on this day
To our sun father,
We offer prayer meal.
To this end:
May you help us all to finish our roads.

When Prayers Don’t Work

What does it mean when an obstacle is encountered despite our sincere supplication of Lord Ganesha?

It may mean that the time, the means, or the goal itself is not right for our karma and dharma. The architect presents his finished plans to the engineer. They are rejected for one technical reason or another. The executive presents a completed letter to the president. It is rejected as not being explicit enough in the third paragraph. The architect and the executive were equally sincere in presenting their work. The engineer and the president were performing their duty as well.

Lord Ganesha loves us. He is a loving God who guides, governs, and controls with speed and accuracy when the plan is perfect, deliberates long and rejects often when the plan needs revision.

Take the plan back into your mind. Search your own superconsciousness for the greater ideas, and revise your efforts with confidence. Seek for the right timing and proceed with confidence when you know the timing to be right.

“When the will rises and commands, even the Gods are willing to obey,” or to give immediate cooperation, to guide, and enhance our efforts. We must work our minds in close cooperation with the mind of Lord Ganesha, and then success is certain. Thus, this God is called Bhaktavighnavinasana, He who destroys the obstacles of the devotees.

Prayers To Ganesh

Here is an assortment of prayers for specific situations. These can be said aloud, or silently while visualizing Ganesh or looking at an image of Him. A nice little ritual can also be made with these prayers. Here’s how:

  • Light a candle and burn some sandalwood incense.
  • Write the prayer on a piece of paper.
  • Imagine that you are now putting that prayer, that request, that issue, that problem into the capable hands of the God.
  • As you imagine the above, light the paper and allow it to burn completely.
  • While the paper is burning let go completely of all worry, anxiety, fear, or need to control. Give it completely up.
  • Disperse the ashes in running water.

Bedtime Prayer

Aum, Lord Ganesha, nightime is here and the moon is in the sky above, reminding me of your crescent tusk. Remain with me, Ganesha, through the night, in my deepest sleep, in my inner experiences, as You have remained with me during my daytime, outer encounters. Let me never forget You, even in my dreams. May we as a family be guided by Your loving wisdom, even there.

Praying To Ganesh

Prayers of supplication are requests, pleadings, or entreaties presented to the Deity in the spirit of personal surrender and loving devotion. Something specific is being asked for, a specific problem is being laid at the Lord’s Holy Feet.

Such supplications to the one-tusked Lord are given unconditionally, with full trust that He will do what is best for us, though not necessarily what we might think is best. We do not demand of the Lord; for He, like a parent, provides not as we desire, but as we truly need. Prayers of supplication may come forth in the natural language of our hearts.

Leaving a problem at His holy feet means we let it be there and do not carry it home with us. Nor do we worry or wonder about how it will be handled, when it will be taken care of, or if it will be taken care of at all. In full unquenchable faith we leave the matter there, at the feet of the God, and walk away from the temple or the shrine, feeling that release has started and solution will be forthcoming. We must have this kind of faith for religion to work within us.

To carry home with us the same problems, fears, and worries would be to take back the offering we have given the Deity to dissolve. This is like the rich and famous who buy with gifts and do not give at all, slyly expecting more than something in exchange, gaining papa rather than punya and not knowing the difference. The course of events later show how He works for our ultimate spiritual welfare.
