Mastering The Concept of Chi
Many of the principles can be easily applied to the home. The most difficult concept in Feng Shui is learning about chi. The below illustration will allow you to visualize how energy moves and how it may become stagnant, stuck or move to quickly to benefit your home.
Think of chi as a bucket of water. Pour an imaginary bucket of water into your home from the front door. Where does the water go? Does it quickly go in a straight line out your back door or does it get stuck at the front door where all the shoes and jackets are kept. Keep pouring the imaginary water in different rooms to see where it travels. You should note how the chi moves and with what speed.

Well this was certainly illuminating! The chi comes into my front door through the Career area, and splits right before the Health area in the center.
It runs to the right – down a long narrow hall and into the toilet (Helpful Friends), missing the Relationship and Creativity areas entirely.
And then from the door where the chi was split it runs to the left getting stopped up in a corner of clutter before puddling and pooling in an area where the Prosperity, Knowledge, Family, Career, Health, and Fame areas meet. So it hits the edges of all of them – but doesn’t really get “into” any of them. Then it runs out the back door.
Mostly the chi runs through my “Career” area way too fast and then it’s gone..
Very interesting exercise. Looks like I will be doing some furniture rearranging this week.
I love this exercise… and looking at it now, I can see that the flow definitely needs some clearing. It puddles at my front door… and goes absolutely no where…
