Power Moves

Power moves are movements that we make with our bodies that assist us in concentrating and directing the energy. Most martial art use power moves to one degree or another. When people dance from their hearts, they are doing power moves, allowing the power to speak through their bodies. Power moves are a dance of power. Tai Chi is an ancient example of power moves.

Whenever you handle energy, you receive it with your left hand and send it with your right hand. Your left hand acts as an antenna and your right hand broadcasts the energy you have received. If you are open to its direction, power will instruct you-it will “tell” you what to do. Flowing with that energy can be a powerful and centering experience. It can also be distressing when you fight it or cannot control it. This dance of power begins as you relax and become mentally centered.

Stand quietly with your legs shoulder-width apart. Mentally give the power permission to flow through you and ask it to guide you. Raise your hands and hold them in front of you. Let your hands and body move as you feel guided. Your movements will be smooth and rhythmic, almost like a ballet. Power moves are a form of moving meditation. They are relaxing and energizing. As you do them, you collect a great deal of power in your body. They are healing to both mind and body.

If it feels appropriate, you can play gentle music or light a candle. Relax and let the energy move your body. Notice how it feels as it flows through you. After you have relaxed into the energy, allow it to move you for about fifteen minutes and then stop. Gently sit down and close your eyes. Ask the universe how to use the energy you have collected. If you don’t get a specific answer, send the energy to Mother Earth so it can heal the planet, yourself, and the people you love.

Allow yourself to bathe in the joy of that energy. If you are having a difficult time feeling the guidance of the energy, start with your hands. Hold them in front of your face and move your right hand clockwise and your left hand counter- clockwise. Move them slowly and rhythmically in and out. Gently notice how it feels.

Then while you are sitting in a chair, begin moving your legs in a circular motion, noticing how it feels. After you are comfortable with those movements, stand up and again begin with your hands. First move one hand out and away from you and then step rhythmically out with one of your legs. Next do the same with the other hand and leg. Slowly begin moving around the room. Notice your body and let yourself enjoy its movements. Allow the process to be sensual and rhythmic.

Be gentle with yourself as you practice allowing your awareness to expand. Enjoy the process.

Exercises:

Practice finding power spots wherever you go.

Find your special power spot. We all have places on this earth that are sacred to us. Take time to find your sacred place. Once you find it, spend some time there. Let that place heal you and fill you with its love. Let your heart guide you to that place. It will call to you if you are willing to listen.

Buy a packet of seeds and divide it in half. Do some power moves and then sit quietly with half of the seeds. Allow yourself to feel their life energy and then slowly begin channeling energy to them. Mentally see them growing big and strong. Plant each group of seeds in separate pots and give them equal care. Notice how much healthier the energized group is.

Natural Power Spots

Just as humans have power points, the earth also has areas where energy varies. These are called power spots. Places like Stonehenge, and the Valley of the Dead are examples of power spots. Just as human beings have areas where their energy is more concentrated, so does the earth. Most of the older churches and temples were built on power spots, where it is much easier to connect with the spiritual realms.

When you approach a sacred place, you can feel it’s power and the strength that lies there. These places can be used to intensify your personal power and to assist you in connecting more fully with your spiritual center. Whenever you enter a room you automatically gravitate toward a place that feels comfortable. The place that you feel most comfortable in is often your personal power spot. It is the place that balances most closely with your own energy. As you stand or sit in this spot, your energy is magnified; it is like putting jumper cables on a car battery.

The ability to consciously find these power spots can greatly enhance your sensitivities to energy and your own process. Being able to find these will allow you to know a little more about yourself than you did before. I suggest you find your power spot in nature. In any given location, there is a place that fits you better energetically than any other location. There are also places that can drain your energy and make you feel and act less effectively. It is important to be able to tell the difference. One spot may energize you while another weakens you and can actually make you sick.

There are three major types of power spots. One type gives you energy and is healing. Another type of spot actually drains energy from anything within its boundaries. There are also power spots that are tricksters. They confuse people and trick them into giving up their power and sanity. It takes practice to be able to differentiate between them. The easiest way to tell between the types is by how you feel. It is important to trust how you feel and what you sense as you explore the energy levels of the different types of power spots. These spots affect you whether you are consciously aware of them or not.

Begin by calling upon your angels and ask the universe for guidance. Relax and focus on your breathing. Slowly look around the area. Does one spot “look” brighter than the other? See how each section feels as you stand in it. Feel from your heart. Do some feel lighter and some heavy? Do you feel confused as you stand in some places? Now slowly walk around the area. Take time to stand in any place that attracts you. compare how each one feels to you. Notice the plants and grasses in the various areas. Do they look healthier in one place, greener and more alive? Let your self look intuitively where your power place is.

Now sit down and begin to meditate. How do you feel as you sit in that spot? Does the energy feel loving and peaceful? If it feels rough or unsettling, move. Soon it will become second nature; you will automatically sit in your power spot. Avoid listening to your mind during this process. Trust the inner knowing. Your inner knowing, your sacred self, will never lie to you.

Shu Chu-Reiki

Shu Chu-Reiki is a concentrated Reiki group exercise. The Japanese word shu chu means “concentrated.” All group members give energy to one group member while wishing and praying for that person’s happiness and health. This can be a very intense experience, so use common sense when choosing the recipient.

Here’s how:

In a small group each person lays hands on the recipient, and begins the flow of Reiki along with the prayers and wishes for that person. Do it for 1 to 3 minutes per person.

Another way to do this is to form a human “chain” or circle. The first person touches the recipient directly, and the rest of the group forms a circle, or “chain.” Hands are placed on the shoulders of the person in front (and so on until each person is connected hands to shoulders).

The Reiki is then channeled through the “chain”. The energy flows and surges through every one participating in the healing and finally reaches the “patient.” A wonderful experience for all involved.

Reiki Mawashi

Reiki current ~ Group exercise.

The Japanese word mawashi means current. In this exercise a current of Reiki energy is passed through a group of practitioners. The energy of a group often exceeds the sum of the energy of the participants, and spontaneous healing at all levels may occur. You can practice this exercise for 10 or 15 minutes.

Here’s how it works:

Sit in a circle, and hold your hands a few inches above / below the hands of your neighbors ~ so that the left hand extends to the neighbor on the left, and your right hand extends to the neighbor on your right.

Turn your left hand upward, and your right hand downward.

Begin the flow of energy, sending Reiki to the left.

The recipient receives the energy from his or her right hand, lets it flow through his or her body, and passes it on to the next individual through his or her left hand.

It’s best if the energy flows clockwise “sunwise,” but this is not mandatory. The exercise will work either way.

Jyoshin Koki-ho

Jyoshin Koki-ho (Joshin Kokyo-ho) is a breathing technique. You breathe Reiki in through the nose through the crown and into the hara on the in breath. You breathe the out breath from the hara.

Jyoshin Kokiho is done to cleanse the spirit, heart and mind. It is a focus meditative breathing technique.

To do Jyoshin:

  • Start by placing the hands in Gassho and your eyes closed.
  • Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

On the in breath, breathe in the light of Reiki through the crown and into the hara. Let the light fill your body completely transmuting all that is negative and stuck into light. On the out breath, breathe out that light and radiate it from you to all the universe.

Feeling The Flow of Reiki

Once the energy begins, the healer or receiver usually notices heat sensation, and this is an identifying characteristic of Reiki. After receiving the Reiki 1 attunement and bringing the energy through for the first time in the classroom, hot hands happen in most healings. If what the person receiving the healing needs is cold, however, the healer’s hands will give cold.

Sometimes the healer feels that the hands are very hot, while the receiver of the energy feels coolness, and vice versa. Every healing position, and every healing session can be different.

When the hands are placed on a Reiki position, the healer generally feels a cycle of sensations. Initially, you might feel the warmth of body heat, but as the hands remain in place other feelings begin.

There may be sensations of heat, cold, water flowing, vibrating, trembling, magnetism, static electricity, tingling, color, sound, or (extremely rarely) pain moving through the healer’s hands. The healer may feel as if the hands have gone to sleep, with a pins-and-needles sensation.

The person receiving the healing may feel the same things or different ones, or maybe even nothing. The sensations change from position to position, and healing to healing. They are unpredictable, but there is almost always a sensation of some kind.

These continue for what at first seems like a long time, generally as long as five minutes. Then the sensations and quiet body warmth returns.

This completes the position, and signals the healer to move to the next one. As someone once said, “It goes up, and then it comes down, and then you can move.” I can’t think of a better way to describe what happens. If you don’t move, the cycle simply begins again: body warmth, several minutes of sensations, and body warmth again.

Often, a position takes less than the expected five minutes, and this is fine. Go by the feeling in your hands. Unless the receiver of the healing has back trouble, the positions on the back will probably take less time.

Occasionally, the sensations seem to go on forever, and the healer’s hands feel glued in place. Continue as long as you need to be there.

If your hands feel free to move and the sensations go on and on, however, stay a reasonable time and then move to the next position. More healing needs to be done here, but the pain or problem didn’t develop overnight and one session may not be enough to heal it. This is usually an area or position where much Reiki is needed, but since the full treatment session takes as long as an hour and a half, spending too much time in one place is not beneficial. Honor your intuition, and remember there is no right and wrong.

Generally speaking, the sensations are less distinct, or less intense, in self-healing than in healing others.

There are many different interpretations of the exact nature of the sensations, that cold means this thing and hot means something else entirely. In my experience, the sensations vary from person to person, session to session, need to need, and putting an arbitrary meaning on a particular feeling can be misleading.

It’s best to focus on allowing the energy to flow rather than on analyzing the feel of that flow. Too much thinking can pull you out of that intuitive heartfelt healing moment and put you into a space of judgment and analysis which may or may not be helpful.

The Seven Subtle Bodies

A quantum is a precise amount of electromagnetic energy, and a quanta measures a burst of light and together they maintain the cosmos. Your inner universe is comprised of that same life force, and it’s put into motion through your thoughts, perceptions, and the consciousness by which you perceive yourself and the world around you.

This inner universe consists of seven subtle bodies that encompass your aura, which is merely an electromagnetic field that extends from your core to 4-5 feet into your perimeter.

What are the Seven Subtle Bodies, the Aura, and Chakras?

If you could see the invisible, you’d see the bio-photons that Fritz-Albert Popp proved the existence of the bio-photon back in the early 70’s. These photons are living particles of colored light (quanta) that the human body emits – this is your aura.

There are seven subtle layers, or bodies that comprise the auric system, and they exist very much like layers of an onion.

The seven subtle bodies hold various forms of information and correspond to the chakra system, which produces energies that create the aura. The seven subtle bodies work like the vehicles of your soul and are:

  • The Etheric Body – First Layer
  • The Emotional Body – Second Layer
  • The Mental Body – Third Layer
  • The Astral Level – Fourth Layer
  • The Etheric Template Body – Fifth Layer
  • The Celestial Body – Sixth Layer
  • The Casual Body or Ketheric Template – Seventh Layer

The Seven Subtle Bodies – Peeling Back the Layers

We can quickly break down these seven subtle bodies as such: three physical plane lower bodies, three spiritual upper bodies, and the astral body that bridges the two; however, some practitioners place the astral body among the spiritual.

The energies must pass through the astral plane and heart chakra, e.g. ‘The Fire of the Heart’ to be fully useful and communicative with the lower bodies. Particularly during states of meditation, one has a stronger connection with the seven subtle bodies and the ability to foster healing and balancing of the chakras.

The Etheric Body:

Of the seven subtle bodies, the Etheric body energy is only one-quarter to two inches beyond your physical self and resonates at nearly 20 cycles per minute. Kirlian photography allows the entire body to be perceived in generally a bluish the aura. Because the etheric body vibrates with and holds information pertaining to one’s physical health, energies can duplicate in the body.

The Emotional Body:

Extending about 1-3 inches from the body, the Emotional layer is obviously where your feelings reside. Typically exhibited by a bright combination of rainbow hues, the field can appear muddled and dulled when negative emotions and feelings are present.

The Mental Body:

From 3-8 inches from the body exists the Mental, or third layer of the aura. Containing your ideas, mental processes, and thoughts, this layer is typically associated with hues of yellow light that radiates around the shoulders and head, slightly extending into lower regions of the body to communicate with other levels.

The Astral Level:

Spreading about a foot from the body, the astral body represents the bridge to the spiritual realm and is the doorway to the astral plane. As with the emotional body, this field produces a myriad of color; however, because it’s strongly correlated to the heart chakra, more hues of pink are present in a loving individual.

The Etheric Template Body:

A template that exists far before the physical body form, this is the template for what you know as the physical body and is thought to co-exist in a different dimension. Extending about a foot and a half from the body, the Etheric template is only visible to advanced healers and clairvoyants. The building block of healing the lower etheric body, this template boasts deep, blue hues possibly because it is a blueprint containing all the forms of the physical world, creating a negative space.

The Celestial Body:

Communication with the spiritual ream occurs here as do feelings of ecstasy and unconditional love. Often appearing as bright, shimmering opalescent colors, one becomes more aware of the Celestial body as they raise their vibrations, level of awareness, and consciousness. As you work from the heart chakra to the sixth level, feelings of divine love and a connection with our fellow man become reality.

The Causal Body/Etheric Template:

The seventh layer is the mental level of one’s spiritual plane and contains all the other bodies within it, extending three to five feet from the body. This field resembles and egg and it pulsates and vibrates at high speeds that are considered the Zero Point / God Energy. A reflection of everything your soul has undergone, this is the link to the Divine and accepting your oneness with the universe.

The Chakras:

Each auric level has it’s own 7 chakras nestled within other auric chakras with each layer extending outwards, vibrating at a higher rate as they expound. This means that the set of seven chakras within the etheric body will vibrate at lower frequency than those within the casual body.

This process is what allows one’s energies to transmutate between all bodies to all other chakras for harmonic balance and higher vibrations, particularly when they are cleared and opened.

The Seven Chakras

Chakras are energy centers, vortexes of spinning force existing in the etheric body and extending through the Astral and Mental bodies of all human beings. They correspond to different levels of consciousness and control the physical condition of the area of the body that they influence.

When the flow of energy becomes stagnant or blocked within these centers, an imbalance is created. This imbalance can manifest into physical, mental and/or spiritual dis-ease or illness.

In this post, we are focusing on the seven major Chakras (there are many more).

  • 1 ~ Root (Base)
  • 2 ~ Sacral (Spleen)
  • 3 ~ Solar Plexus (Pancreas or Power)
  • 4 ~ Heart (Thymus)
  • 5 ~ Throat (Thyroid)
  • 6 ~ Brow (Third Eye)
  • 7 ~ Crown (Pineal)

On the etheric level, each of the main Chakras corresponds to one of the Endocrine glands and major Nerve Plexus. The Chakras draw in the Universal Life Force Energy (which is all around us), breaks it down into its component parts and sends it along in streams called Nadis to the Nervous System, Endocrine Glands and finally to the bloodstream.

Reiki attunements align and fine tune the Chakras to receive the energy, much like we tune our radios and televisions to receive stations or channels. Each of the Chakras have a color that is related to them and these colors become significant when working with the Chakra system. These seven colors are the same colors, in the same order, as a rainbow. Each color has its own unique vibration.

Root Chakra:

Located at the base of the Spinal column. In the endocrine system it corresponds to the Adrenal Glands. Governs the Spinal columns and Kidneys. This is where Spirit enters the body. Deals with issues of Survival, Faith, Abundance, Trust. The color is red, the musical note is C.

Sacral Chakra:

Located at the root of the genitalia. In the endocrine system it corresponds to the gonads. Governs the reproductive system. Is the center which deals with Creativity, Sexuality, Sharing. Its area of consciousness is the Emotional body. The color is Orange and the musical note is D.

Solar Plexus Chakra:

Located below the Sternum. In the endocrine system it relates to the pancreas. Governs the liver, stomach, gall bladder, and nervous system. This Chakra reflects the power and control issues of your life. Through the healing of this center there often arises the need to leave behind experiences which limit or restrict movement in your life. There are issues that are holding you back from moving ahead with your life plan or contract. Its area of consciousness is the Mental body. The color is Yellow and the musical note is E.

Heart Chakra:

Located in the middle of your body across from your heart. In the endocrine system it relates to the Thymus. Governs the Heart, Blood, Vargus Nerve and the Circulatory System. Love is the energy which needs to be felt and communicated through this center. This Chakra is the bridge between the upper three and the lower three Chakras. It is within our heart that our sense of God-Source exists. Its area of consciousness is the Astral body. Its color is Green and the musical note is F.

Throat Chakra:

Located at the base of the throat. In the endocrine system it relates to the thyroid. It governs the Lungs, Bronchial and Vocal Chords. It is involved with the areas of communication, both sending and receiving. It is also communication from within the self. Its area of consciousness is the Etheric body. The color is Blue and the Musical note is G.

Brow Chakra:

Also known as the Third Eye, it is located in the space between the eyebrows. It is associated with the pineal gland that secretes the hormone melatonin, regulating sleep and awakening. This center relates to the access of intuition, and leads you to an inner knowledge that will guide you if you let it. Its area of consciousness is the Celestial body. The color is Indigo and the Musical note is A.

Crown Chakra

Located at the top of your head. In the endocrine system it relates to the Pituitary gland. This center governs the cerebral cortex. This is where transcending of the physical plane is possible and the point of conscious consciousness. This center has been described as the corridor through which the body moves beyond. It is the exit point for the Astral body as well as for the consciousness. This is where the energies of healing and inner guidance (Spirit Guides, Guardian Angels, Etc) are drawn. Its area of consciousness is Spiritual. The color is Violet and/or White and the musical note is B.

You can find a lot more information on the Chakras at Chakra Central.

Uses For Each Antahkarana Symbol

There are several variations of the Antahkarana symbol, here is a brief explanation of each one:

The large single symbol is more female and creates its healing in a gentle way healing the female energies of both men and women.

The smaller single symbol is more male and more direct, focused and penetrating and will heal the male energy of both men and women. Use your intuition in deciding which one to use.

The Cosmic Cross is made of seven symbols crossing each other. This represents the seven major chakras. This symbol will purify your energy and can be used to open the heart.

The square multiple symbol made of sixteen symbols will break up blocked and congested energy, and get stuck energy moving. This symbol can also scatter your energy so it is recommended that you follow its use with the single male symbol to create centering and grounding.

Activating The Reiki

Reiki is a very easy healing technique to use. After receiving the Reiki attunement, all that is necessary to start Reiki flowing is to request it to do so. Just ask or intend that it begin to flow and it will.

This can be done simply by saying the work “Reiki” to yourself at the beginning of a healing session. Reiki is always ready to flow and it will do so whenever you want it to. Simply placing your hands on someone with the intention of giving a treatment will be enough to start it flowing.

It is not necessary to meditate or concentrate, or go into an altered state to use Reiki. Reiki flows so easily that just thinking or talking about it turns it on. In fact, as I am writing this section, I feel my Reiki flowing simply because I am thinking about it.

When giving a treatment it is important to keep your fingers together. This will concentrate the energy and create a stronger flow.

You can talk with the client, or others and Reiki will flow. However, it flows more freely if you focus your awareness on the Reiki, allowing your consciousness to merge with it. Be aware of the sensations in your hands such as warmth, tingling, vibrations, pulsations or a flow of energy.

You may also feel Reiki flowing through other parts of your body. As you dwell on Reiki, your mind will begin to be aware of the consciousness of Reiki. You may experience this as feelings of joy, love, well-being, security, upliftment, unlimited potential, freedom, creativity, beauty, balance, harmony, and other positive states.

Allow these feelings to become your feelings. If other thoughts come up, gently brush them away, and bring your attention back to the consciousness of Reiki. As you do this not only will you be allowing Reiki to flow more strongly, you will also be receiving a deep healing.

By meditating on the consciousness of Reiki, you will also be entering a state of mind that allows Spirit to work more closely with you. You will be a clearer channel for the Reiki.

The most important way to increase the effectiveness of Reiki is to come from love, compassion, and kindness. This will create a feeling of emotional safety for the client, encouraging them to more fully accept the Reiki energy. It will open the doors to your healing potential, increasing the strength of your Reiki and it is also very healthy for you!
