Fennel
You can use the aromatic properties of spices to enhance your powers mentally.
Fill a jar with equal parts of the following spices. This will make an all purpose mental power scent jar.
- Cinnamon: For dream magick.
- Nutmeg: For good luck.
- Allspice: For healing.
- Ginger: For lunar magick.
- Basil: For protection.
- Fennel seeds: For spiritual healing.
- Garlic powder: For spiritual purification.
- Marjoram: For protection.
Before scrying, readings, or other psychic work, shake the jar gently and then inhale the scent to enhance your mental powers.
You can also make individual spice jars for specific spells and magickal workings. Or the spices can be combined for special purposes. For example, combine Cinnamon, Fennel, and Ginger for New or Full Moon spells for healing dreams.
The jar is best stored in a private place among your other magickal tools. Your jar should not be revealed to others.
It will last about one year, at which time, you should dispose of the spices by burying them before creating a new mental enhancement jar. Bury the spices on your own property if possible, either that or some beautiful wild place.
Wash the jar with lots of soap and water, and allow it to sit in the sunshine for several days. Now it’s ready to be refilled.
Herbs can be mixed and combined to produce a “recipe” that’s just right for each of us. Since the Sun sign you were born under has such an amazing influence on your health and well-being, using the herbs that correspond with that sign alone can be a tremendous help in times of stress or illness. Here’s a short list of herbs that seem to be tailor-made due to their associations with both the planetary ruler and the positive qualities of this sign.
- Clover,
- Eyebright,
- Fennel,
- Lemon Grass,
- Lemon Verbena,
- Marjoram,
- Parsley.
The quick-witted, fleet-footed mercurial energy of Gemini just loves variety – in fact, the expression “variety is the spice of life” was written with you in mind. Each of these herbs provide a different type of taste, and most can be combined in a light, aromatic tea you can sip on the run. These herbs are great for spells of communication and mental pursuits. Use clove or slippery elm to protect against gossip and to keep your thoughts and actions grounded.
This botanical powder makes no promises about bringing good fortune but allegedly counteracts bad luck and protects from its effects. Nine, seven, and five are numbers of protection – incorporate these numbers into the quantities of botanicals used.

- Juniper berries
- Cloves
- Dried dill
- Dried fennel
- Dried tarragon
Make substantial quantities. Carry some with you in a mojo bag, while keeping more within the home as fragrant, protective potpourri.

In a small pot, put the following:
- 1 cup of Spring water
- 1/4 cup grapefruit juice
- 1 teaspoon fennel
- 1 teaspoon vervain
- 3 pinches of nutmeg.
Place the pot on a fire, or on the stove in a stainless steel pot, and bring it to a boil. Sit before the pot with a pink candle, and concentrate on the man or woman from whom you wish love, chanting his or her name out loud for thirteen minutes.
- 2 parts Rosemary
- 2 parts Fennel
- 1 part Lavender
- 1 pinch Kelp
Once you’ve gathered the ingredients, put them in a large mixing bowl and mix with your hands. Place a handful or so in a large square of muslin or other porous fabric and tie up the ends. Add this to your bath. To save time, make several bath sachets and store them in a jar with a tight lid until needed.
For best results, repeat this bath morning and night. While in the tub, visualize yourself as possessing complete control over your eating habits. See yourself eating sensible foods in sensible quantities. For symbolic associations, begin this bath regime two days after the Full Moon and continue until the New Moon. On the last day of the two-week period, visualize yourself as you wish to be — slim, fit, healthy.
