Orris Root
This magical powder uses the power of Gemini and Mercury to quickly and easily find information and/or to encourage the smooth flow of communication. It can be used by itself, or added to other forms of magick, such as at the bottom of a candle, sprinkled on a written spell, etc.
To start, find and mix the following ingredients with a mortal and pestle:
- Dried white rose petals
- Silver glitter
- Blue powder
- Dried vervain
- Dried orris root
With your finger or a pencil, draw the symbol of Mercury and the symbol of Gemini in the powder. Hold your hands over the powder, asking that the mixture be instilled with the dynamic energies of Gemini. Store the powder in a plastic bag that contains a moonstone.
To put to use, place a teaspoon of the Mercury powder in the palm of your hand and blow off your fingers as you ask the element of air to speed your request and return the necessary details to you as quickly as possible.
Optimum times for the making of this powder are when the Sun, Moon, or Mercury are in Gemini. If it happens that all three are in Gemini at the same time – the power of this powder will be tripled.

This condition oil allegedly ends familial quarrels and encourages reconciliation. An excellent spell to coincide with a family reunion!
Ingredients needed:
- Brown sugar
- Bee pollen
- Orris root
- Peppermint leaves
- Pink rose petals
- Sweet almond oil and/or Jojoba oil
To create the Peaceful Home Oil, grind together the brown sugar, bee pollen, orris root, and peppermint leaves. (Amounts are not given in the original recipe, but I would consider using equal parts of each.) Place this in a bottle together with pink rose petals. Cover with sweet almond and/or jojoba oils. Allow it to sit overnight.
Soak cotton balls in the oil and tuck them strategically through the room.

- 1 cup salt
- 4 drops frankincense oil
- 8 drops lotus oil
- 1/4 teaspoon powdered orris root
- 4 drops sandalwood oil
Lightly mix the following ingredients together and place them in a jar for storage.
Helpful Tips:
Add the essential oils drop by drop, one ingredient at a time, until the scent seems right. Mix with a spoon (or shake) until all salt particles are moistened. Be prepared to spend some time doing this, perhaps a half hour or so. Here is where a plastic bag comes in handy!
If the Bath Salts are mixed for a ritual purpose, visualize the energies within the oils merging with each other and with the salt as you mix. Keep the salt’s goal in mind while you stir. Use or store until needed.
