Before you do any magical or psychic work, inhale the scent deeply and then shake the jar gently.
You can use the aromatic properties of spices to enhance your powers mentally.
Fill a jar with equal parts of the following spices. This will make an all purpose mental power scent jar.
- Cinnamon: For dream magick.
- Nutmeg: For good luck.
- Allspice: For healing.
- Ginger: For lunar magick.
- Basil: For protection.
- Fennel seeds: For spiritual healing.
- Garlic powder: For spiritual purification.
- Marjoram: For protection.
Before scrying, readings, or other psychic work, shake the jar gently and then inhale the scent to enhance your mental powers.
You can also make individual spice jars for specific spells and magickal workings. Or the spices can be combined for special purposes. For example, combine Cinnamon, Fennel, and Ginger for New or Full Moon spells for healing dreams.
The jar is best stored in a private place among your other magickal tools. Your jar should not be revealed to others.
It will last about one year, at which time, you should dispose of the spices by burying them before creating a new mental enhancement jar. Bury the spices on your own property if possible, either that or some beautiful wild place.
Wash the jar with lots of soap and water, and allow it to sit in the sunshine for several days. Now it’s ready to be refilled.
Lightly mix the ingredients together and place them in a jar for storage. A great prosperity blend.
- 1 cup salt
- 8 drops lotus oil
- 2 drops cinnamon oil
- 8 drops sandalwood oil
- 3 drops myrrh oil
- 2 drops allspice oil
Helpful Tips:
Add the essential oils drop by drop, one ingredient at a time, until the scent seems right. Mix with a spoon (or shake) until all salt particles are moistened. Be prepared to spend some time doing this, perhaps a half hour or so. Here is where a plastic bag comes in handy!
If the Bath Salts are mixed for a ritual purpose, visualize the energies within the oils merging with each other and with the salt as you mix. Keep the salt’s goal in mind while you stir. Use or store until needed.

Herbs can be mixed and combined to produce a “recipe” that’s just right for each of us. Since the Sun sign you were born under has such an amazing influence on your health and well-being, using the herbs that correspond with that sign alone can be a tremendous help in times of stress or illness. Here’s a short list of herbs that seem to be tailor-made due to their associations with both the planetary ruler and the positive qualities of this sign.
- Allspice,
- Basil,
- Cayenne,
- Garlic,
- Ginger,
- Mustard,
- Onion,
- Pepper.
It’s no secret that Aries is the astrological equivalent of a bullet. It’s a red-hot burst of energy that’s capable of overcoming any obstacle by charging straight for it. The ruler of Aries is Mars, the “red” planet, the ancient god of war who was known for his equally fiery temperament. No wonder, then, the herbs that correspond with your sign are also a bit “hot” to the taste. Use them in cooking to raise your endorphins, the substance Mars loves best. Use them for spells to invoke that Mars energy.
Sweet fresh pumpkin with bright notes of apple and pineapple juice and just a dash of spice… ah, mystically delicious! A pleasant and nutritious drink. The perfect pick-me-up for all your magickal endeavors!
Magickal Meanings:
- PUMPKIN ~ Fertility, plenty, abundance, prosperity. Male sexual stimulant.
- APPLE ~ Love, healing, fertility, good luck , happiness, immortality, divination.
- PINEAPPLE ~ Draws money and luck, protection.
- ALLSPICE ~ Luck, health, prosperity, money.
Ingredients:
- 1 Medium sized pumpkin
- 1 quart Apple Juice and Pineapple juice mixed (I like half and half)
- Honey
- Allspice
How to Make Pumpkin Apple Juice:
Slice pumpkin in half, scrape and remove pulp with a big spoon. Place pumpkin halves, cut side down, on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes until soft. Let cool. Remove pumpkin pulp out of shell. Cut pulp of pumpkin into chunks and put it thru a juicer or wrap pumpkin in a cheesecloth and squeeze. Add Apple and Pineapple juice mixture. Make sure consistency is thin and juice-like (like orange juice). Add a dash of allspice (to taste). Add one to two tablespoons of honey, stirring in thoroughly. Sample juice, add more honey if it is not sweet enough for your taste. Add more allspice if it needs more flavor.
Note: Give this cocktail a nice little punch by adding Apple Vodka or Brandy.
- Dressed Pumpkin Seeds
- Allspice
- Nutmeg
- Peppermint
- Orange Peel
Essential Oils / Fragrance Oils:
- Patchouli
- Honeysuckle
- Pumpkin
Fill an appropriately sized bottle with the dry ingredients. Add the fragrance oils. Then fill with Jojoba carrier oil. Wrap the bottle with copper wire to increase the charge. A small crystal can also be placed into the bottle.
I used Jojoba carrier because it is safe, natural, and has a 100-year shelf life. The recipe for Dressed Pumpkin Seeds can be found here: Dressed Pumpkin Seeds

You’ve carved all those great pumpkins! Don’t throw away the seeds. They are great for attracting prosperity — you can use them in oils, around candles or in conjuring bags. Here’s how:
Gather the following ingredients to “dress” the seeds for baking or drying:
- Cinnamon
- Allspice
- Nutmeg
- Ground Cloves
- 1 tablespoon of Vanilla Extract
- if you know FOR SURE no one will eat the seeds by mistake — add cinquefoil
Next, coat seeds with the above listed formula. Time to dry them! There are two easy ways — in your oven or using a food dehydrator. Oven – bake at 150 degrees for 3 to 4 hours, turn them every 30 minutes to avoid scorching. Or you can use a food dehydrator at 115 degrees for 2 hours.
Once your dressed seeds are thoroughly dry, you are ready to make lots of great magickal projects!
