Patchouli
Take a glazed pan half full of grease or olive oil. Put in sweet mint leaves bruised. Place pan in hot water bath (or double boiler). Stir occasionally. After four or five hours pour into linen bag and squeeze grease through into pot again and fill with fresh leaves. Repeat until grease is strongly scented.
Do same with marjoram, thyme and pounded dried patchouli leaves, if you may have them (for they be best of all). When strongly scented, mix all the greases together and keep in a well-stoppered jar.
Anoint behind ears, throat, breasts and womb. In rites where Blessed be … may be said, anoint knees and feet, as also for rites connected with journeys or war.

- 1 cup salt
- 6 drops patchouli oil
- 2 drops cinnamon oil
- 3 drops acacia oil
- 8 drops sandalwood oil
Lightly mix the ingredients together and place them in a jar for storage.
Helpful Tips:
Add the essential oils drop by drop, one ingredient at a time, until the scent seems right. Mix with a spoon (or shake) until all salt particles are moistened. Be prepared to spend some time doing this, perhaps a half hour or so. Here is where a plastic bag comes in handy!
If the Bath Salts are mixed for a ritual purpose, visualize the energies within the oils merging with each other and with the salt as you mix. Keep the salt’s goal in mind while you stir. Use or store until needed.

Note: There are a number of different recipes for the Four Thieves Vinegar, and this is just one of them.
The Oils:
- 4 parts Patchouli
- 3 parts Cypress
- 1 part Vetivert
Color: Green
Uses:
For use in attuning with the Earth, or for rituals involving money, foundation, stability, creativity, fertility, ecology, etc.
Note:
The proportions here, though for essential oils, are by parts. One part may equal six drops. Generally speaking, there shouldn’t be more than ten total drops of essential oil per half-cup of bath salts. Experiment to find what works best, and please use only genuine essential oils. You should remember, too, the irritating qualities of some essential oils, and use accordingly.
Bath Salts:

Herbs can be mixed and combined to produce a “recipe” that’s just right for each of us. Here’s a short list of herbs that seem to be tailor-made due to their associations with both the planetary ruler and the positive qualities of this sign.
- Ginseng,
- Dill,
- Patchouli,
- Pomegranate,

Scorpio is the sign of intensity and intimacy, so it’s no wonder the herbs you’ll love best are famous for their use in stirring up passion. Drink ginseng tea (or offer some to your beloved) to induce a magnetic physical attraction. Wear patchouli to arouse lust and silently conjure the magic of the Beltane rituals. Present the object of your desire with a pomegranate, the fruit traditionally associated with seductive Pluto, your ruling planet.
