Color Me What?

Color Therapy is an alternative style of therapeutic practice that utilizes the vibration and frequency of color to aid in healing. Are you in pain, feeling anxious, or fearful? Here is an exercise to help establish the color therapy protocol you need TODAY:

Sit with your eyes closed and visualize your situation.

Think of a color that soothes what you are feeling. Don’t worry if it takes a couple different examples, it is important to listen to your body and discover what works best for you. What is today’s color?

Take a deep breath and imagine pulling this color throughout your body. When you exhale, imagine the (anxiety, pain, fear, anger) leaving your body. Do this a few times until you to feel a shift in your body and begin to feel better.

Imagine a glass filled with liquid in your chosen color and drinking it down. That color is filling up your body…you begin to feel (calm, safe, happy, and any pain minimizing).

Continue visualizing your chosen color for 3 – 5 minutes. Thank this color and carry its energy with you for the rest of the day.

Remember any color’s energy is available to you whenever it is needed.

A Color Therapy Mantra

This is a mantra that invokes the power of Ganesh to enable you to give color therapy.

Aum Kapilaya Namah.

Kapila (red) means that you are able to give color therapy. You are able to create colors around yourself and around others, bathe them in that color and heal them. As per the mantra you create, so will you create the colors. Another meaning is “wish cow,” the “cow of plenty.” It means that whatever you wish, that comes true. There is a wish-cow inside you. Whatever you wish, especially for healing others, comes true immediately.

Here are some guidelines you might find helpful:

Traditional meditation practice is called Japa, or recitation, and is the spiritual practice of devotedly repeating a mantra, generally a specified number of times, such as 108, often while counting on a strand of beads, called a japa mala, while conscientiously concentrating on the meaning of the mantra. The mantra can also be repeated for a specified period of time, such as 20 minutes. This can be done while sitting or walking, and gives the best results with a consistent daily practice.

The repetition should be dutifully slow. This brings punya, merit, to the devotee. Japa is a form of devotional worship, invocation, supplication, praise, adoration, meditation and direct, experiential communion.

Unless we are actually in a state of samadhi (total absorption), which is rare for most people, japa provides a means to disengage from our racing thoughts and our memories of the past — mostly the bad ones. The repetition of positive, uplifting, spiritual mantras over and over again lifts consciousness and causes the muladhara chakra to spin clockwise. We feel uplifted. Life does not look so bad, and neither does the past. A sense of forgiveness comes and the future looms bright. The past is forgiven and forgotten. Japam can be done by everyone.

The Color Blue

Blue is the coolest color – the color of the sky, sleep, twilight, and the deep sea. Blue is the color most commonly associated with harmony, faithfulness, and confidence. It is overwhelmingly the most popular color, chosen by almost half of both men and women as their favorite color. It is also commonly associated with the sky, the sea, ice, cold, and sometimes with sadness.

The ancient Egyptians used lapis lazuli to represent heaven. Blue symbolizes the Virgin Mary. A pure blue is the color of inspiration, sincerity and spirituality.  It contains a cool vibration that is helpful to communication. Blue is the calming color. That makes it a wonderful color to use in the home, especially for babies. Blue is so soothing that it is a good choice for pajamas. A blue iris means your friendship is very important to me. Wednesday’s color is blue.

Blue gives a feeling of distance. Artists use it to to show perspective. This is a good way to understand the energy of the color blue – it allows us to look beyond and increase our perspective outward. Blue relates to the future in linear time, as it is a faster moving frequency than we experience in the physical. Researchers at Cornell University discovered that applying blue light to the backs of the knees resets the body’s internal clock, eliminating jet lag and the sleep disturbances that accompany shift work.

Blue links with and stimulates the throat chakra. The throat chakra is often referenced as the “power center” and “the greatest center in the body” because it is the primary center of expression and communication, through speech.

The vibration of blue can be used to open energy flow where it is blocked. Using blue to relax will encourage feelings of communication and peace. To help remember a speech, write your notes on blue paper.

Blue light has been found to significantly reduce the pain of arthritis – the longer the exposure the better the results. Blue acts as an antiseptic and cooling agent, and enhances the natural flow of energy. Excellent for inflammations including those of internal organs, also good for cuts and burns.

Violet is the color of purpose and is associated with imagination and inspiration.. Violet is associated with the Crown chakra. This chakra is the main coordination center of the body and ensures you are connected to universal sources of energy.

Leonardo da Vinci proclaimed that you can increase the power of meditation tenfold by meditating under the gentle rays of Violet, as found in Church windows.

Violet is the door to the unseen. It is the color of the sky at sunset. It is a deeply healing and cleansing color which soothes pains in body, mind, and spirit. It is said if you surround yourself with violet you will have peace of mind.

Violet is an important energy for those who use blue and indigo skills in the psychic field. The red in violet offers a grounding effect.

Violet is the color of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment.

Violet is the color of transformation. It heals melancholy, hysteria, delusions and alcohol addiction and bring spiritual insights and renewal. This color slows down an over-active heart; stimulates the spleen and the white blood cells (immunity). Brings sleep. Soothes mental and emotional stress. Decreases sexual activity. Decreases sensitivity to pain. Helps in detoxification.

Healing With The Color Yellow

Yellow is associated with the solar plexus chakra. Yellow activates the motor nerves. It generates energy for the muscles. Disturbance in the supply of yellow energy to any part of the body can cause disturbance of function in that area including partial or complete paralysis from the deficiency of sensory and/or motor energy. Its complement is violet.

Yellow is a mixture of red and green rays. It has half the stimulating potency of red and half the reparative potency of the green. Hence, it tends both to stimulate function and to repair damaged cells. Yellow light directed at the intestinal tract for short periods is a digestant. For longer periods, it acts both as catharsis and as a cathartic. It also stimulates the flow of bile and has an anthelmintic action (antagonistic to parasites and worms).

Yellow predominantly affects the solar plexus chakra, and it is stimulating to the mental faculties of the individual. It can be used for depression. It helps awaken an enthusiasm for life. It awakens greater confidence and optimism. It is also effective in the treatment of digestive problems. It is beneficial to the stomach, the intestines, the bladder, and the entire eliminative system as well. It is very effective in the treatment of most headaches. It helps to balance the gastrointestinal tract.

Healing with the color yellow:

  • Use yellow for a weak and confused immune system – frequent minor illnesses, intolerance’s and allergies to foods and other substances.
  • Digestive problems, inefficient absorption of nutrients.
  • Yellow is used to treat dermatitis and other skin problems.
  • It activates the motor nerves. It affects the nervous system, good for nervous exhaustion.
  • Yellow can be used for conditions of the stomach, liver, and intestines. Speeds up the digestion and assimilation, and the stool.
  • Use it for digestive disorders, gas, food allergies, liver problems, diabetes, hypoglycemia, hyperthyroid, gallstones, muscle cramps, nervous disorders, depression, exhaustion and breathing problems, lymphatic problems, dispelling fears, building bones.
  • Yellow also speeds metabolism.
  • Yellow helps strengthen the nerves and the mind. It helps awaken mental inspiration and stimulates higher mentality. Thus, it is an excellent color for nervous or nerve-related conditions or ailments.
  • Yellow energizes the muscles.
  • Dark yellow soothes pains in the nerves (shooting pains).
  • Yellow also helps the pores of the skin and aids scarred tissue in healing itself.
  • Yellow affects the digestive system, gastrointestinal tract, adrenal activity and the left hemisphere brain activity.


  • In healing, yellow must be used carefully because it is highly stimulating and can cause exhaustion and depression if overused.
  • Intense yellow is the color that is most stressful for the eyes. The amount of light that is reflected by this bright color results in over stimulation of the eyes; it can actually cause eye irritation.
  • Bright yellow rooms are often too intense. People may become irritated and nervous in a yellow room, children may have trouble sleeping and babies may cry more.
  • Do not use yellow for nervous breakdowns, use blue or green.
  • Do not use yellow if you are suffering from acute inflammation, delirium, diarrhea, fever, neuralgia, over-excitement, palpitation of the heart.
  • Excessive amounts or exposures to yellow may make one superficial or hyperactive. It should be balanced with colors from the blue spectrum.
