Consciously Working With The Chakras

5070424_orig

So let me introduce the practice of entering your chakras every morning, with the intention of working consciously with your spirit. Drop your intention to your first chakra, to the base of your body, to the root of your spine. Put your attention there. This is your connection to Mother Earth. Feel yourself connected to that earth energy. Picture yourself sitting on wet earth. Picture yourself smelling that fragrance of newly cut grass. Feel yourself embraced by the soft wind of early morning. Feel sun on you. Feel sound around you. There is only you and the Earth now. You and Gaia.

This is your connection to your own life, to who you are, to the experience of being alive. This part of your body, your first chakra, contains the truth that all is one. You know that. As you radiate in this part of your body, you can feel that truth. You can feel yourself connected to every part of life. The fragrance of the Earth, the aquatic systems, the air, nature, life, your family, your friends, the planet. all of life is connected to you in this moment. All of life.

As you prepare for your day, consciously walk into these thoughts.

Allow that truth that all is one to penetrate through your body and feel that truth and its force moving down your legs. Feel that. Your first chakra is connected to your legs. Feel that power that when you walk on this Earth, you are walking in that truth. No matter where you walk you’re going to be connected to that electrical guidance that met you the day that you were born.

You have a circuit and that circuit connects you to every form of magnetic life on this planet.

Take a moment and put your attention there and think about your day. Do you feel unsafe or insecure on this day in your life? Is there something that scares you about this day in your life? Feel your fears, pull them into your consciousness, because you’re doing to need to deal with them today.

What strengths can you feel from this part of your body? Remind yourself again: all is one. This is your area of physical strength, this is the part of your body that pulls from that deep sense you have of trusting in your own strength to stand tall. To handle whatever weight is put on your shoulders.

You’ve got tremendous strength; feel that. It emanates from this part of your body; sense that. Make this power strong; feel it. Continue reading

Music and the Chakras

chakl0023-chakra-lotus-flowers-braceletnecklace-whole-chakra-colours-with-silver-trim-music

Music resonates the body’s energy system – the Seven Chakras. It stimulates these centers, awakening them and releasing the storehouse of creative vital force that is waiting there to be discovered, giving listeners glimpses into the deepest aspects of themselves.

There is a system for attributing specific notes to chakra energy centers. Personally, I feel that this system is arbitrary — the western temperament scale is a relatively recent development compared to the understanding of the chakra energy centers, which were first documented in the Upanishads sometime between 1200–900 BCE. Despite that arbitrariness, the system does seem to have value.

Our bodies are an electric concert of pulsating vibrational frequencies and dynamic rhythmic patterns that move with our emotions and shift with a thought. It seems natural that our organs and chakras uniquely respond to musical pitches. (I can not think of a better example than those non-invasive “sound surgeries” where kidney stones are shattered with pinpointed, high intensity sound waves.)

Aligning notes to chakras interests me; it is perfectly in accord with the principles of a vibrational universe. As Einstein says, “Everything in life is vibration.”

What follows is the list of chakras and their respective notes:

Muladhara: The “Base” or “Root” Chakra, Corresponds to the note “C”, and also the key of C. It is associated with the gonads and the adrenal medulla. Muladhara’s inner aspect governs sexuality, lust and obsession. Read More

Svadisthana: The Sacral Chakra, Corresponds to the note “D”, and also the key of D. It is associated with the testes or the ovaries that produce sex hormones. Svadisthana’s inner aspect relates to creativity and reproduction. Read More.

Manipura: The Solar Plexus Chakra, Corresponds to the note “E”, and also the key of E. It is associated with the Islets of Langerhans, which are groups of cells in the pancreas, as well as the outer adrenal glands and the adrenal cortex. Manipura’s inner aspect relates to personal power, fear and anxiety. Read More.

Anahata: The Heart Chakra, Corresponds to the note “F”, and also the key of F. It is associated with the thymus, a key element of the immune system. Anahata’s inner aspect relates to unconditional love for the self and others. Read More.

Vishuddha: The Throat Chakra, Corresponds to the note “G”, and also the key of G. It is associated with the thyroid, a gland that is produces thyroid hormone, responsible for growth and maturation. Vishuddha’s inner aspect relates to self-expression and communication. Read More.

Ajna: The “Third Eye” Chakra, Corresponds to the note “A”, and also the key of A. It is associated with the pineal gland that secretes the hormone melatonin, regulating sleep and awakening. Ajna’s inner aspect relates to the access of intuition. Read More.

Sahasrara: The Crown Chakra, Corresponds to the note “B”, and also the key of B. It is associated with the pituitary gland, the thalamus and the hypothalamus. Sahasrara’s inner aspect deals with meditation, and unity with universal consciousness. Read More.

Ways to Energize Your Chakras

img_9094_edited1

Everyday we stimulate our Chakra centers in one way or another, for example, through the different thoughts we have or physically through our senses. Daily we energize our centers, consciously or unconsciously, through various methods. Following is a list of common ways we charge our Chakra centers:

Thoughts

Thought is an energy form. Science has proven a positive thought allows our energy to flow freely and unrestricted. Whereas, negative thoughts decrease energy within our body. Every thought (whether mental or emotional) is connected to a Chakra. For example, a passionate thought is a red energy stimulant, but an angry thought decreases one’s positive red energy flow. This means that continual angry thoughts will lower your root Chakra’s energy.

The Sun

This is our most important energy source. Through light all the seven color energies flow from the sun’s rays to the earth. People, animals, plants, minerals, water and our Chakras receive energy from the sun’s light. (If you are not able to enjoy the sun for a few hours daily, add a quality full spectrum light bulb to a light source in your work area or in a lamp at home.)

Food

When the sun’s rays bless all plant life, it gives the plant life/energy. Once the plant absorbs energy, the color energy that remains is the energy of that fruit, vegetable or flower. Without this energy our body could not assimilate the nutritional value of the food. Balance your Chakras daily by eating foods that contain each of the seven color energies (that’s why the doctor always said to eat a plate of different colored foods… for the color value!).

Meditation & Breathing

Since thought is an energy form you can stimulate your Chakra centers through meditation, visualization or breathing energy into your various Chakra centers. Visualization (imagining color and movement) adds additional power to a Chakra’s vibration.

Gems & Minerals

Gemstones and minerals are also energy forms. For example, crystals contain a similar crystalline structure as the human body. Crystals amplify energy and can be programmed (e.g. computer chips and watches). Wearing gemstone jewelry or placing gemstones and minerals in your environment is a simple way to absorb the stone or mineral’s healing vibrations.

Color Bathing

Water is a conductor of energy and color is an energy. While lying in the colored water your body absorbs the vibrational frequency from the color. Take the time to give back to your body and soul! While bathing, balance that Chakra by thinking about what you would like to achieve from that specific energy and maybe add the correlating aromatherapy oil. Do not use chemical food coloring to dye your water. I recommend Colour Bath™ by Colour Energy Corporation, as it is totally organic and therefore safe to use.

Aromatherapy

Essential oils are the pure essence of the plant or flower. Every oil has a vibration that correlates to a color. Oils contain the healing properties of herbs, flowers or plants. Use only therapeutic quality oils (inexpensive oils may contain toxins). Also never apply oils directly on your skin (dilute with a carrier oil or in a bath).

Music & Dance

Music effects us in a positive or negative way. Every musical note corresponds to a color and Chakra center. Certain sounds can stimulate an emotional, mental, physical or spiritual response. E.g. Listening or dancing to primal music, such as the beating of drums, can energize your physical body and stimulate your root Chakra.

Toning & Sounds

We can vocally make sounds to vibrate at the same frequency as various organs in our body. Regular toning can help keep our body’s organs functioning properly. Noise pollution can be very disturbing to our environment. Surround yourself with sounds, which make you happy and productive!

Colored Light

By shining of light through various color filters directly onto the body, the vibration of the color will be absorbed through your skin effecting the designated area.

Solarized Water

Charge water by filling a colored glass with water or by placing a colored filter in front of a glass of water and let the sun’s rays kiss the water with color energy. Make sure the glass is not leaded and of a clean color hue.

Syntonics

Is the use of color through the eyes. Via our eyes color stimulates our pituitary gland, which in turn releases hormones connected to the correlating organ of the same frequency. Therapeutic eye glasses that are manufactured with various colored filters can be simply worn whenever you need a boost of a certain color or Chakra energy. Make sure the color eyeglasses are 100% UVA & UVB coated if wearing outdoors and again the exact color tint of the lens is very, very important. Note: Unless the color glass manufacturer or distributor is aware of color therapy, chances are their colored lenses are not made for healing purposes.

Decor

Use colors consciously in your home or work environment to give you more positive and productive energy. Paint a room or add different colored pillows, artwork, carpets, etc.

Clothing

What we wear will influence our mood, mind and energy level. Light penetrates through our clothing amplifying the color energy we are wearing. The more vibrant the clothing the better the energy transfer.

Art & Color

Art and color can be used as an outlet to either express or stimulate. Surround yourself with the colors, which are suitable for what you need to accomplish in that area. Use calming colors in your bedroom and mentally stimulating colors in your work space. To learn more about color, and how it affects you and your environment, visit Color Therapy.

Everything Is Vibration

auras-human

Albert Einstein once said, “Everything is vibration.” On the most fundamental levels, humans and everything else in this world (and universe, for that matter) are made of pure energetic vibrations. In fact, about 99.999% of an atom is empty space and the other .0001 % (Electrons, protons, and neutrons) are probably also made up of empty space. That means that everything we see, this computer, the table, and your body are made up of mostly empty space and the only thing that makes them material is their energetic frequency.

This is basic high school science: gas molecules vibrate at a higher frequency than liquids, and liquids vibrate faster than solids. Everything in the universe is vibrating.

Think about colors: those are simply different frequencies of visible light moving at different speeds. From slowest to fastest, these are the speeds of color vibration: Red resonates at 405-480 THz, orange at 480- 510 THz, yellow at 510-530 THz, green at 530-580 THz, blue at 600-620THz, Indigo at 620- 680 THz, and Violet at 680-790 THz.

Everything has a unique vibratory code and energy, and we should be aware of this, especially when it comes to the food that we put into our bodies! For our health, it’s important that, whenever possible, we should be eating organic food—pesticides have a low frequency vibration as they are meant to kill sentient life. Pesticides, on a vibration and physical level, lead to more disease creating free radicals in the body and having numerous harmful effects.

The ancient Vedic scriptures—the Yoga Sutras—and Buddhist theologies speak to these quantum concepts. In fact, all of Hindu and Buddhist philosophy seeks to destroy the self and the ego, to move from a place of separation/duality or an “us and them” mentality to a place of oneness with the collective, essentially in a quantum sense, turning the self into nothing in order to be one with everything.

Many cutting edge theories—including string theory and the idea of a big bang—revolve around nothingness being the source of creation for everything. Not only did these theological practices have a grand understanding of the universe, but they also had an innate understanding of light, energy and frequency. As such, they discovered that the body has 7 seven main energy centers or chakras that correspond to our emotional and physical states of well-being. The term Chakra comes from the Sanskrit word for wheel.

These Chakras—or spinning wheels of light—resonate with specific frequencies of light. There are seven colors of the rainbow and each one correlates with a chakra.

Red is the slowest frequency of visible light and thus relates to the root chakra, orange for the sacral, yellow for the solar plexus, green for the heart, blue for the throat, and indigo for the third eye, and purple for the crown chakra. As we move up the body, the vibratory frequency of the each color increases as well.

As far as foods are concerned, each chakra is related to the others, but you can focus on one specific chakra that needs attention, if you notice it is out of balance. However, it’s never a bad idea to make a big organic chakra balancing smoothie intended to harmonize the whole body. It’s an awesome way to start the day. The Key of B and the 7th Chakra

110677-glowing-green-neon-icon-alphanumeric-letter-bbThe Key of B is traditionally associated with the Seventh Chakra, also called the Crown Chakra. The Seventh Chakra is the seat of the essence of integration, unification and completion.

When the Crown is opening and flowing, the experience is profound. Feelings of completion and wholeness arrive, along with a deep sense of fulfillment, the type of comfortable satisfaction that comes when you are happy and secure with who you are.

When the Seventh Chakra is blocked and bound, a sense of mental agitation stemming from not being able to “see the forest for the trees” can overwhelm you. Confusion and doubt are often present, stemming from an inability to focus o the task at hand.

The open Crown will give you the understanding of how to integrate your diverse experiences and perceptions into a unified whole. You’ll find yourself easily able to focus simultaneously on the whole and its constituent parts. And most of all, the work of opening the Seventh Chakra creates the experience of oneness and clarifies your understanding of surrender and acceptance, the last steps toward becoming your essential self.

Here’s a video of Piano Improvisations in B Major, for more ideas on music in the key of B, see this list of compositions in the key of B, and also Jazz compositions in the key of B.

Or, if you are feeling adventurous, you can put B Major into a search for music on YouTube and go exploring.

The Key of A and the 6th Chakra

110675-glowing-green-neon-icon-alphanumeric-letter-aaThe Key of A is traditionally associated with the Sixth Chakra, or the Third Eye Chakra. The Sixth Chakra is the seat of the essence of clarity, open mindedness and seeing the truth. It is no coincidence that this center is located in the brow, in the “place between the eyes” Indeed, the sixth center is the most famous of all Chakras – the Third Eye.

When the Sixth Chakra is open and free flowing you experience a sense of clarification and let go of judgmental attitudes that produces anger, fear and resentment. Appreciation born of the ability to see things as they truly are tailors your outlook on life.

When the Sixth Chakra is blocked you will often experience feelings of anger, doubt and fear. Judgmental bias or dogmatic attitudes are usually present, states of mind the generally lead to an inability to make commitments. The need for clarification and reassurance is very present when this center is blocked.

Working to open the Sixth Chakra will bring forward an understanding of what it means to see clearly, without the energies of bias and judgment clouding your perspective and influencing your thinking and then your actions.

In this music video, Bob Marley sings “Is This Love?” a reggae tune in the key of A. For classical music in the key of A, see this list of compositions in the key of A.

Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you could put “Key of A” into a search for music on YouTube and go exploring.

The Key of G and the 5th Chakra

110687-glowing-green-neon-icon-alphanumeric-letter-ggThe Key of G is traditionally associated with the Fifth Chakra, or the Throat Chakra. The Fifth Chakra is the seat of the essence of expression, communication and speaking your truth, aspects of the essential self that are deeply empowered by the harmonization of these energies in the heart Chakra.

When the Fifth Chakra is open and free flowing, your ability to express the essence of who you are truly becomes possible. The essential self finally feels recognized, validated and received, you feel comfortable with you are and your expression reflects this.

When the Fifth Chakra is blocked, issues stemming from Low self esteem and the inability to express one’s self clearly are present. “Holding back” the truth and an inability or reluctance to bring forth the qualities that were revealed in the transformation of the heart into language are also pervasive issues.

Opening the Fifth Chakra encourages the expression of the next step in fulfilling your purpose—being present with what your essential self thinks, believes and feels and developing the ability to speak from this place of unity and truth.

This music video of “Come As You Are” by Nirvana is played in the key of G. More music in the key of G can be found on this list of compositions in the key of G, and also Jazz compositions in the key of G.

Or, if you’re feeling adventurous you could put “Key of G” into a search on YouTube and go exploring.

The Key of F and the 4th Chakra

110685-glowing-green-neon-icon-alphanumeric-letter-ffThe Key of F is traditionally associated with the Fourth Chakra, or the Heart Chakra. The Heart Chakra is the seat of the essence of interconnection, transformation and the beauty of unconditional love, aspects of our essential self and its pure heart.

The opened and free flowing Heart Chakra resonates with the energy of this transformation. Embodied in the heart itself, this center naturally performs the function of giving and receiving, giving and receiving, all in one motion, all at the same time, taking nothing, giving and sustaining life.

When the Heart Chakra is blocked, Feelings of loneliness and the sadness are present, at a deeper level, emotions and feelings are present that interfere with the experience of unconditional love, the understanding of wholeness and the nature of interconnection.

Learning to be present with our feelings and transcending our possessive, demanding natures seems to be a never ending story, born of our inability to simply accept all things for what they and stop trying to make them into what we want them to be. Opening the heart creates the opportunity to transcend this ancient human pattern and embrace the beauty of giving and receiving.

Here’s a music video of the song, Belief by John Mayer, which is played in the key of F. For more ideas for music in the key of F, see this list of compositions in the key of F and and this list of Jazz compositions in the key of F.

Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, put “The Key of F”  into a search for music on YouTube and go exploring.
