Here is a spiritual cleansing ritual for the new moon:
Tools and Ingredients:
A star. Not as in a movie, but as in the sky. It can be a piece of jewelry, a Yule tree decoration, a picture of a star, a crystal window ornament, a pentacle, or whatever other star you might have. If you are outdoors, or have a window with a clear view on a clear night, you have many stars to choose from.
- Place your star before you. Or, if your star is in the sky, be in a place where you can see it.
- Get comfortable.
- Pick one thing – just one – inside yourself that keeps you from nurturing your soul. Something you would like to cleanse away in this ritual.
- Close your eyes. (just peek to read a step, then close your eyes to execute that step.)
- Imagine that far out in the sky is a star that was made just for you, just to heal you. This is your own special and private healing star. Pretend that such a star exists. Even if you can’t believe in this star, imagine it anyway. Pretend it’s real. It does exist.
- While imagining this star, get in touch with whatever inner block you have decided you want to be cleansed of. Feel it as much as possible.
- Send your inner block far, far out to your special healing star. Imagine the block traveling a long, long, long way to the star.
- Imagine the star kisses that block. This changes the block into a gift for you, but that is not part of the visualization. The gift is whatever internal attribute you need instead of the block, but you needn’t know what the gift is or picture it. Let the Goddess decide what the gift is.
- Sit quietly for a minute or two. Be open to your gift coming to you. You may feel something, you may see something, you may learn something. If you don’t, that’s good too; it is on it’s way. Just sit in as receptive a state as you can for as long as is comfortable.

Anybody can use some extra cash, especially if it means being able to buy a particular item, save for a vacation, or simply to kick back and enjoy a night out on the town. A great way to manifest a desired amount of money is to write yourself a New Moon Check.
As in the graphic above, it’s a check you write to yourself in the amount you want to create or manifest. It’s a New Moon Check because you write it during the first 24 hours of a new moon, when manifesting magick is strongest.
Before you begin writing your check, think about how much you might want to create, whether it’s based on meeting your financial obligations, or for something that is purely recreational. The general rule of thumb is to write the check for an amount you truly believe to be possible to manifest. For example, if you wrote your check for one million dollars, but yet, you have strong beliefs that that is not possible, that one million dollars will probably take a very long time to manifest in your life, most likely only after you have worked through any limiting beliefs. Therefore, if you want to see results quickly, it would be wisest to ask for a reasonable amount of money.
Try not to think of yourself as needing this amount of money, as needing often implies lack; instead, imagine this amount of money as adding to your prosperity. Imagine that you already have the amount of money you are manifesting, right this second. What would you do with it? How do you feel with this money in your life? Play it out in your imagination with as much detail as possible. Imagine these feelings of joy and prosperity to radiate out into the Universe. As you do this, you are becoming magnetic to whatever it is you focus upon.
Finally, when you’re done, hold your check in your hands and surround it with white light, and then release it fully and completely. It’s important not to hold any attachments to the results of this exercise; simply acknowledge that the money will begin flowing into your life immediately thereafter, and trust that the Universe will find the easiest way to do so.
Put your check somewhere safe and try not to think about it for the next 28 days. During this time, be especially alert to opportunities that come your way, and pay attention to your intuition, as it can guide you to your money sooner. You also want to acknowledge any money that comes your way with gratitude, including any expected income; this will send messages to the Universe that you are ready to receive even more of what you have.
When the next new moon comes, take your check out and review how much money you have received in the past 28 days. If you managed to manifest the amount you wrote in the check, congratulations! If not, write yourself another check and repeat the process until you do manifest successfully.

Try to keep an eye open for the first appearance of the new moon in the sky. The lovely silver crescent of the new moon always fills me with awe and brings optimism for the coming month. Bow reverently three times, then turn your money over three times. Praise the beauty of the moon, and ask for her blessing in the month ahead.
For this spell you will need the following:
- a quiet place to work
- a smooth flat surface or table top
- one small cotton drawstring bag
- a small quartz crystal
- a small white candle
- equal parts of the following herbs: Rosemary, Lavender, and Chamomile
Clean your work surface and place the rosemary lavender and chamomile in a pile on the table in front of you. Light your candle, and take a deep cleansing breath. It is time to begin.
With your finger or fingers (which ever feels comfortable) draw a meandering path in the herbs – starting from the center. This represents the current flow of clarity that up till now has been the norm… take your time… enjoy the play of finger and herb…. this is the last time you will take a long and arduous journey to clear thought and vision.
When you are done “playing,” take the palm of your hand and smooth out the herbs, erasing the patterns and designs that were just drawn. Now, say:
Clarity of thought and mind
Come to me now and every time
I am yours and you are mine
Clear thought and vision intertwined
As you say those words, use your forefinger (your pointing finger) to draw a spiral design in the herbs starting from the inside out, drawing it in a counter-clockwise direction. This is the spell of undoing…. undoing the necessity for wavering and doubt… undoing dead ends and blind alleys.
Once again take the palm of your hand and smooth out the herbs, erasing the spiral design… do this slowly and thoughtfully… Now, once again say the words:
Clarity of thought and mind
Come to me now and every time
I am yours and you are mine
Clear thought and vision intertwined
and use your finger to draw a spiral design, this time moving from the outside in… in a clockwise direction… spiraling gently into the center, and when you are done place the crystal in that center spot.
Spend some time thinking about how easily clear thought and vision can spiral into your mind, your heart, your experience, your dreams, … how effortless it can be… a smooth gentle spiral… Imagine that the spiral is not just flat on the surface of your work space… but three dimensional… and real.
Repeat the spell words one last time… say it like you mean it. These are words of power. Claim them.

Come to me now and every time
I am yours and you are mine
Clear thought and vision intertwined
Clap your hands 3 times, loudly ,.. and then quickly scoop the herbs and the crystal into your drawstring bag… pull the drawstring tight… It is done!
Any time you feel an extra need for clarity or vision … you can open the bag and inhale the scents. This spell is best performed when the moon is new.

On a day during the new or waxing moon, take 5 one dollar bills, arrange them in a fan shape. Each bill should be face up and they should all be facing the same direction.
Put them under the doormat at your front door. Place them, with the fanned (widest) side facing inward. Sprinkle cinnamon over them and say:
Money in, money out
Money is my friend.
Money comes, money goes
Money comes again.
Each time visitors, family, and friends come to your home they will enliven this spell. Leave the money there for as long as you like. If you decide to refresh it, do so only on the new moon, and if you decide to remove it, do so only on the full moon or you may cause unexpected cash flow problems.

As we travel we are all faced with choices. Hecate is the goddess of the crossroads. Go to her if you need to make a decision in matters having to do with travel or life opportunities.
Take three apples and go to a three-way crossroads that is not busy with traffic, ideally at night. Cut each in half so the pentacle formed of the seeds is showing. Thinking of your choices, place one-half of an apple at each intersection. Then make your wish and place the last three halves in the center, where the roads join. Ask for Hecate’s help in making your decision.
Go home and eat an apple or drink an apple beverage before bed. Dream of possibilities. Save apple seeds to plant in the crossroads area next spring, and ask again for Hecate’s blessings.

According to traditional Chinese philosophy, some illnesses or other afflictions, particularly those of a chronic nature, may be caused by unhappy Ancestral Spirits. Ancestors may be aggrieved because a grave is neglected, or perhaps illness and disaster result from a lack of sufficient sacrificial offerings to sustain beneficial energy. These ancestors aren’t necessarily malevolent; they just lack enough energy and power to keep harm from your door.
What can be done?
First of all, feed them, and feed them well. Have certain days where they are invited to dinner, set places at the table for them, and have a nice chat. Take picnic lunches to grave sites, and share food with them there on sunny afternoons.
Secondly, verify if a grave needs tending. Make improvements if you can. If this is impossible, if a grave site is situated in a location beyond your reach, in parts unknown, or does not, in fact, exist, then explain this to the Ancestors in detail, including what your plans are for compensation. Divination may be in order to receive their opinions on the matter, too.
You can also create a small shrine or ancestral altar in your home, with old pictures or memorabilia and leave small offerings of sweets etc.
And last but not least, burn paper offerings. The traditional offering is joss paper – called “spirit money” or “ghost money.” In a pinch, any paper resembling money will do.
- Goal: To use if you feel the presence of benign spirits.
- Optional extras: White candle
You can do this spell in front of your altar or walking around the house (be careful to have the candle in something that will render it safe to carry) or any place in the house where you are particularly aware of the spirit’s presence.
Familiars are particularly helpful in working with spirit entities since they often sense energies that people do not. If you find your pet consistently looking at a particular spot in the house or acting as if they see something you can’t, you may want to do this spell, just in case!
Note:
This is not a banishing spell. If you want to be rid of a spirit, this is not the spell to use. This spell is essentially a way of saying, “I know you’re here, and you are welcome to stay as long as you don’t cause any problems.
The Spell:
Greetings, O spirit
Whose form was once flesh
And who lingers on
For reasons I cannot know
You are welcome here
In this place that is mine
As long as your intent is benign
And your energy mellow
I will not interfere with you
If you will not interfere with me
Let us live together in peace
And may your spirit be blessed.
Find a quiet place, light a candle if you wish, and then begin the following chant. Chant until you begin to feel a deep connection to the Goddess. Then be silent. Your guidance will come.
