Moon

This spell is for those damaged souls who have been through the mill in love. They have failed, and they have failed miserably. They are not even willing to take another chance on love because they feel crippled underneath the baggage they are already carrying. This spell combines a bit of wisdom and a bit of hope and a heap of renewal energy. This spell may be performed only on the new moon. You can perform this spell on yourself or for that dismal friend of yours with his/her consent before you try to fix him/her up with a blind date.

You will need:

  • Milk
  • Shot of rum
  • An egg
  • Teaspoon of sugar
  • Spritz of Lemon Juice

Heat up the milk, add a shot of rum (or imitation rum flavoring), crack an egg, and stir it in (minus the shell). Add a teaspoon of sugar and a spritz of lemon juice. Take off the stove before it reaches a boil and guzzle it down quickly. Lemon heals, neutralizes, and repels negative energy , situations, and hopelessness. Milk is loving and nurturing, cures depression, and alleviates fear. Rum clears the way and brings insight, eggs are for rebirth, and the sugar will sweeten the new path of love that awaits you.

Try to keep an eye open for the first appearance of the new moon in the sky. The lovely silver crescent of the new moon always fills me with awe and brings optimism for the coming month. Bow reverently three times, then turn your money over three times. Praise the beauty of the moon, and ask for her blessing in the month ahead.

On any day or evening from the new to full moon, sit quietly and close your eyes. Relax. See yourself as the energy of prosperity. Be the energy of prosperity. Chant, or repeat in your mind:

Circle, circle, round round;
round round, circle round.

Calm and center yourself, thinking of yourself as the energy of success and prosperity. BE the energy of prosperity. This spell is a terrific one to do anytime, and is especially helpful when those financial worries start to get you down.

Drawing Down the Moon refers to ritually connecting with the power and wisdom of a Full Moon divinity. In some Wiccan traditions, this is done by the priest of a group calling the Moon Goddess into the priestess in order for her to become the living embodiment of the deity during the ritual. However, there also are other types of Drawing Down the Moon rituals.

In the Circle Craft tradition, all participants in a group ritual Draw Down the Moon by simultaneously evoking the Moon Goddess within themselves. We also Draw Down the Moon as a personal rite by the following method:

Do a personal Drawing Down the Moon ritual in a private place where you are not likely to be disturbed. Create sacred space. Then, hold your arms up above your head, curving them slightly and holding your palms toward each other so that as you do this you get a sense of being a great chalice. Invoke the Full Moon Goddess or some other Full Moon Divine form you wish to link with.

As you do the invocation, call to mind the image of a shining disc of Moonlight coming down into yourself through your sacred chalice posture. Drink in the power, wisdom, and light of the Moon Goddess. Then, slowly move your arms so that your hands overlap each other on your heart area. Experience yourself as becoming one with the disc of Moonlight and the Moon Goddess.

Experience yourself glowing with Lunar radiance, power, and wisdom, and continue to resonate for several minutes. Then, receive, reflect on, and remember your experiences and any guidance that comes to you. When you sense it is time to end the ritual, give thanks to the Moon Goddess and Sacred Moon. Then, end the ritual and eat some food to aid in grounding. Write about your experiences.

Day of the Eclipse…a Greek Myth Made Ritual

Today’s colors are black and white. Upon a black cloth set incense, a lantern with a bright flame, and two necklaces of figs strung together, one of dark figs and one of light ones. On this day of magickal possibilities lets purify some evil thing from your life. As darkness overwhelms us let it be the darkness that steals our mind and heart…as the light comes back in the world, so too should light cleanse your soul and body. During the eclipse there should be fasting.

Eclipse Invocation

Long ago on days as this
The people chose two from the crowd,
One man and one youth
Coupled in life
Who had incurred their wrath,
Or were sinners, or merely ugly,
And they paid them gold in the name of Apollo
Bright God of the Sun
Whose rath the city must invoked
To steal their light from the sky
Apollo, he whose other face
Is the ravening wolf Lycaon.
They fed them, marched them around
The boundaries of the city,
And then drove them out
Pelted with figs and squills,
With all the sins of the city on their backs.
And soon the light returned
And the city felt blessed
And comforted in their action
Yet sins are not so easily driven out.
To lay them on a human back
Is too easy, and we do not walk the easy path.
So on this day we cast out the sins
Of the house, the family, the community,
Yet we each take responsibility for those sins,
And as dark returns to light
We admit that we are each the Pharmakoi
A scapegoat, but of our own actions
And that none of us can lay that on another.

Chant:
Pharmakoi Pharmakoi
We cast you from our home

*All lay hands upon the fig wreaths and speak what sins they would cast out and be rid of. They are then carried outside to be thrown on a fire and burned, and the ashes turned into the compost heap or scattered about the garden.

Prepare for the ritual in your usual way. According to your personal preference, begin with the following:

  • Ground and Center
  • Cast and Raise circle
  • Call quarters

Invitation to the God:

Lord of the night, join me now in this sacred space.
Your Lady rides high in the sky and soon will be in and of me.
Come now to join me in the ancient holy rites.
So Mote It Be !

Spend a few moments becoming aware of the God presence and light the God candle. Most likely a gold, orange or red candle.

Invitation to the Goddess:

Blessed be Lady Moon, mother of all life.
I invite your presence in my circle tonight.
Join me in the joyous enchantment of this Esbat night.
For behold, I stand here in the light of your love to worship
in the ancient way and to spin moon magick like my ancestors before me,
I seek to invoke your primal creative power, that my rite shall be successful.
Hear me now, my mother, as I bless your bounty and your goodness.
bless me in turn with your eternal tenderness.
wrap me in your warm silvery light.
hold me forever in the protective embrace of your boundless arms.
So Mote It Be!

Spend a few moments connecting with the energies of the full moon and light a Goddess candle, usually silver. Honor with songs, cakes and ale, or special reading. At this time you may perform the Drawing Down the Moon ritual or any other magickal workings.

When you are complete, release the god and goddess and thank them for their help and attendance. Release the quarters. Lower and open the circle:

The circle is open
but never broken,
So Mote It Be!

Three nights before the cycle of the full moon, you should begin this three-day spell to remove the negative energy preventing abundance from coming your way. Repeat the following ritual bath on each of the three days leading up to the full moon with the last day being on the day the full moon starts. You should use the same candles for each of the three ritual baths.

The Ritual Bath:

To a warm bath, add money bath salts, which are made from a variety of formulas but generally have a strong patchouli scent. Light some general candles around the bath to reach the ambient lighting you prefer. Imagine a soft white light entering through your head and feet to cleanse the negativity from you. Focus on this goal as you enter the bath. Relax and meditate on the obstacles and stresses in your life melting away into the water.

As you drain the water from the tub, your negativity will follow the water down the drain.

Next, cast a circle and light a God and Goddess candle and place it upon your altar. Also place on the altar a green pillar candle that you have anointed with lodestone oil. Visualize your financial goals as already achieved. Put all of your energy into the candle. Finally, rub the candle down with a mixture of cinnamon and cloves. Light the candle and burn money incense while focusing on your goals.

Repeat this ritual for three days so that the last day is upon the full moon.

If you have been very disappointed, if you have broken up with a loved one and feel lonely and betrayed, Put oil of lily on a cotton ball, hold it in your hand go to a window, and look at the moon, waxing or waning. Now inhale the scent of the lily warmed by your hand and say to yourself:

I am never alone
I am surrounded by the love of the Divine Mother,
the Lady of the Woods and the Springs and the Flowers,
I am never forlorn
For I am loved by the Divine Mother
And she has already sent her blessings after me
I am never alone or forlorn
My ancestors’ spirits watch over me.

On July 7, the Japanese observe Tanabata, a popular Japanese festival based upon a Chinese myth. This a festival that celebrates the annual reunion of Shokujo, the sky princess, and Kengya, a lowly cowherd. When Shokujo’s father discovered the love affair, he separated the two on either side of the great sky river, the Milky Way.

Once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month, a flock of sympathetic magpies form a living bridge over the Milky Way so the lovers can be reunited. Skogugo, the Weaver Star (Vega), joins the Cowherd Star (Altair) in the sky.

The Japanese honor the lovers by placing spools of colored thread on their altars. Japanese children write poems on long strips of paper and tie them to branches of trees. Also flowers, animals, and stars all made of paper are hung up as decorations.

To bring a lover into your life, place red jasper, a pearl, and rose quartz in a spell box. Under the light of this Moon, burn a red candle and write:

In the light of the Tanabata,
Lover, come to my bidding,
Come in the red light of flame,
Come in the flooded Moon of night,
Across the wide expanse of the Milky Way,
In the pull of tides,
By the light of Tanabata,
By the power of Weaver and Cowherd,
To my bidding come.

Roll the spell in a tiny scroll and tie with a colored threads. Before the next Full Moon, a new lover will enter your life.

You may wish this only three times in between the New Moons. While gazing at the moon, repeat the following:

“Moon, Moon, beautiful Moon,
brighter than any star
Goddess of light and love,
Diana if it might be,
Pray bring fortune unto me”

A sign that the spell worked would be coins doubling in the purse or pocket. Or seeing a hare before dawn.

Being A Witch

We should educate people that ‘Witch’ is not evil but ancient and positive. The first time I called myself a ‘Witch’ was the most magical moment of my life.
