Bells

You will need:

  • Lighter
  • White candle
  • Vanilla essential oil
  • White feather
  • White flower
  • White stone
  • Salt
  • Ceremonial broom
  • Incense and holder
  • Pen and paper
  • Heatproof container

Before you begin gather all ingredients. Dress and bless the candle by carving it with a wheel of fortune, a horseshoe, a lucky clover and your name and birth date. Anoint the candle with vanilla essential oil OR you can use vanilla extract from you baking cupboard.

On a night when the Moon is waning, Cast a Circle in the usual way; include a sprinkling of salt around the perimeter. Place white flowers, a white feather and a white stone in the center of the Circle and pray:

Goddess Nemesis, I ask that you turn the wheel in my favor. Please accept these gifts as my offering to you. I offer them with humility and love. So Mote it be!

Sweep the Circle Widdershins (counterclockwise) with a ceremonial broom chanting:

Sweep away with magick broom
All misfortune bringing gloom.

Light a stick of incense; cleanse each Quarter beginning in the North and moving Widdershins while chanting

Northern (Western, Southern, Eastern) Quarter I purify
Misfortune now like smoke will fly.

Light the white candle and chant:

Candle flame is burning bright
Bad luck flies into the night.

Write down all the bad luck that you have been experiencing and then set it alight and place it in the heat proof container. Chant:

My bad luck goes up in smoke
Now good luck I do invoke.

Ring your bell and clap your hands, then say:

Bell will call good luck to me,
Clapping hands will set it free.

Now you will physically begin to “turn the wheel” in your favor! Stand in the center of your Circle and with arms outspread spin Deosil (clockwise) while visualizing the Wheel of Fortune bringing you good luck.

When you are finished, snuff the candle, open your Circle and dispose of the candle and paper ashes by burying them or throwing them into moving water. Place the offerings outdoors.

Sometimes spirits attach themselves to an individual rather than merely haunting an area. The spirit may speak through the individual, refusing to leave. Encouraging or forcing them to leave is a shamanic technique. However, should you find yourself dealing with a case of possession without an exorcist in the neighborhood, the following spells may be attempted. In general, you will still need a ritual assistant to help achieve your magickal goals.

Here are some general guidelines:

  • Use intensive cleansing methods to purify the area.
  • In addition to whichever methods are employed ring bells, cymbals and sistra loudly.
  • Invoke benevolent protective spirits, like Archangel Michael, Kwan Yin, and/or Isis.
  • Draw up talismans of protection.
  • Summon the demons demanding that they come forward and depart.
  • Look for signs of departure.
  • Dramatic spirits will let you know they’ve gone. Otherwise use divination techniques to determine whether your methods have been effective or, if not, what further action should be taken.
  • If you’re sure they’ve departed, burn the talismans.
  • Mix a teaspoon of the ashes into cooled boiled spring water. Have the afflicted person drink it.
  • Close the ceremony.

In traditional Chinese belief, what we call demons may actually be a manifestation of excessive Yin energy. This can be neutralized by applying the opposing force: extremely potent yang energy. The following serve as demon/yin repellents:

  • Firecrackers
  • Mirrors
  • The crowing of a rooster
  • Swords

Reading sacred texts and philosophy books is also believed to send malevolent spirits on their merry way because these create order, in which demons (which crave chaos) cannot thrive.

It is also traditionally believed that low-level malevolent spirits can enter the body through food. This is the source of many fairy tales where evil is swallowed. Certain foods guard against this as well as expelling any previously swallowed demons. The most powerful include the following, and can be added to food to expel and also prevent demons:

  • Ginger
  • Garlic

On the night of the full moon, go into your garden, pour a libation of fresh spring water, and say:

Plants of wonder plants of power
Increase in potency by minute and hour
I conjure you now, I charge you with strength
I give you life of infinite length
And boundless magical energy
As I will it, plants, charged you be.

Don’t forget to bless your garden spirits as well. Leave some fragrant herbs strewn in the garden, or string some silver bells, and say the following:

All members of the Sprite and Fey
I offer myself to you this day
For spiritual harvest and your work here below
So that I may flower and blossom and grow
And learn of myself and that up ahead
While working or playing or dreaming in bed
And in return, there is nothing I ask
But that within your magic spirit can bask

Hang up a bell with a pleasant ring in a window which remains open for a good part of each day, and through which the wind blows (preferably the West Wind).

As you do so, speak these words:

Little bell of love, I hang you to whisper
my need for love on the breezes and winds.

Little bell of love, speak of my need for love
to your brothers and sisters.

Little bell of love, I ask you to speak softly
and draw to me someone who listens.

Every time the bell rings, it is “whispering” of your need for love. (The brothers and sisters are other bells who will add their own power to the spell.)

Note: You can also use wind chimes with bells (as in the image), and simply change the words to “bells” instead of “bell.” And if you have wind chimes but no bells, the words can be changed to “chimes.”

Altar: On cloth of shades between white and black, place four white and grey candles, a vase of flags and banners in the colors of a snowy night, a bell with a clear tone, a knife, a glass of white wine, and incense of cypress and juniper.

Offerings: Blowing curls of paper into the wind. Ringing bells or wind chimes. Study and learning, especially of a field of knowledge that is difficult for you.

Invocation to the North Wind

Breathe in!
Breathe in the wind of the North,
Cold and chill,
Ice-flecked wind that brings
The order for all life to sleep,
Forcing closed our tired eyes,
Wind that sweeps down from the poles,
Wind that sweeps away our resistance,
Wind that invites us to lie down
And embrace the darkness,
Whistling wind that comes in
Through the cracks and chinks
Of our fears and longings,
Breath of winter, wind that strokes the starry skies
Over the dead fields, and calls to us
With sere and weathered voice,
Black wind of night that cuts us
Like the razor-edged knife,
Have mercy on us!
Breathe in
And cleanse your body yet again.

Chant:

Boreas Boreas Breath of the North
Wind of knives

Wind chimes and bells are rung. Wine is poured as a libation. All process outside and release messages on small curls of paper into the north wind.

Today is a full moon – a perfect night for some Angel magic.

This spell can be said anytime. Works well by accentuating with a bell or any instrument that makes a high ringing sound… such as a wind chime. Ring the bell one time after each phrase. This can also be done in a group, where one person says a line, and then the line is repeated by the group, followed by the words “So shall it be!”

State your intention, and follow it up with each of the Angels listed below, and a simple affirmation of power. For example (I love my life. Ariel begins it. So shall it be!) Repeat until each angelic power has been invoked. This is a very powerful chanting invocation, you will feel the energy build as you do the spell.

  • Ariel begins it.
  • Baradiel guides it.
  • The Chalkydri sing it.
  • Devas manifest it.
  • Elohim wills it.
  • The Fravashi better it.
  • Bagriel brings it.
  • The Hafaza watch it.
  • The Ischim blalance it.
  • Jael guards it.
  • Kadmiel births it.
  • Lahabiel aids it.
  • Michael raises it.
  • Nebo ministers it.
  • Ofaniel sees it.
  • Patron Angels devote it.
  • The Queen of Angels speaks it.
  • Raphael inspires it.
  • Sandalphon prays it.
  • Thrones sanctify it.
  • Uriel strengthens it.
  • Vrevoil reveals it.
  • Watchers protect it.
  • Xathanael patrons it.
  • Yahriel places the glory of the moon on it.
  • Zodiac Angels seal it.
  • And Spirit brings it through time and space.

So be it.
And so shall it be!

Being A Witch

We should educate people that ‘Witch’ is not evil but ancient and positive. The first time I called myself a ‘Witch’ was the most magical moment of my life.
