Solving Problems
Still A Little Wonky
So this morning I had to delete all the plugins and apps because one of them was messing up the Gypsy Magick and Lore site. And now I’m trying to remember which ones I had turned on and which ones were off for a reason… sigh…
If there is a weirdness here and there, that’s why. I’m trying to get it all back to normal but with 43 little sites it’s going to take some doing, and truth be told it may take a year at the rate I’m going.
Anyway… That’s my update for today. Hopefully its just minor inconveniences and inconsistencies that will only be noticed by me.

Yay! The website is secure again! I just want to give a shout out to Go Daddy! I love their tech support staff. Whenever I call, I get an actual person who is not only friendly, but really does know what they are talking about!
Nothing is more annoying than talking to tech support about an issue and then discovering that you know more than they do… especially when you know virtually nothing. That has happened to me at Mcafee and AT&T, but it has never happened to me at Go Daddy. So! Go Daddy is the best!
Searching The Site
I have been trying to figure out how to have universal search widget so that I can search the entire site, but with no success. And then I had an idea. I asked Google to do it. I was looking for magickal information that I had posted about popcorn. I remembered posting it, but I couldn’t find it. So, I put shirleytwofeathers popcorn into a Google search. And this is what I found:

Turns out, the post I was looking for was the Popcorn Day post over at the Pagan Calendar. So, that was a lot easier than going site by site looking for “popcorn.”
Then, I thought I’d try it with something different and see what happened. Since I am having to go back to work this week, I put the following into a google search: shirleytwofeathers “back to work” and this is what Google found:

A fun page full of images from the website. Just make sure it’s shirley twofeathers, and not shirley two feathers, because that image search will bring up a bunch of other stuff. I was surprised by all the cat pictures… does that make me a virtual cat lady?
Issues and problems with this method:
Unfortunately, not ALL of the posts show up, for example, the popcorn post on Eating To Live wasn’t in the first 2 pages of the Google search, although the original post on the old Gypsy Magic Blogger Blog was right there. I’m not quite sure why Google doesn’t like Eating To Live.
Also, in my original search, a post about popcorn over at Meme City was in the top three, but it didn’t come up at all when I redid the search. So, I wonder what’s up with that?
Anyway…
If you happen to use this method and find it useful, I’d love to know. And if you happen to use this method and find it to be totally useless, I’d also love to know. 🙂
And if anyone who reads this knows of a widget or plugin that would work more efficiently than Google, let me know!

I’m sure that my regular visitors have noticed that the site has been running really really slow lately. That’s because we have exceeded our bandwidth and our storage resources. As a result, I had to upgrade the site to a larger (and more expensive) hosting plan. So…
Happy news! The deed is done, and we shouldn’t have any problems for a quite a while. On the down side, I am now looking for ways to pay for the upgrade that do not include annoying and invasive advertising. Right now, this website is ad free… I’d like to keep it that way!
So, if you love this site, and want to support it, you can! And it’s easy. Looks like the Way Cool Pictures theme was broken in the move, and I just now realized it. The content is still there, it just wouldn’t load. It’s back up, and now I’m having to redo the widgets and the other miscellaneous stuff that comes with the theme.

Animated Gifs Are Fixed
So, I’m working on The Powers That Be, and writing a post about why the Spirit world helps us, and someone must have taken pity on me because I had a miracle break through and fixed the problem of animated gifs not being animated! How cool is that?
Two Steps Forward….
When you take two steps forward and only 1 step back, progress is made. But when it’s two steps forward two steps back… well… you don’t get anywhere fast. So, here’s the update. I managed to get a lot of posts up on Gypsy Magick, and it’s looking pretty good, except for one small thing. And that same small thing is annoyingly present on all the new sites because….
Well, I managed to totally break The Pagan Calendar, and the only way to unbreak it was to deactivate all the wordpress plug ins. Which fixed the problem. Only thing is, when I reactivated them, the widget that resizes all the clever little animated gifs I have implanted in the sidebars of all the sites… well, it quit resizing them, so they are way too big for their britches, and wil all have to be redone. Which is annoyingly tedius.
Sigh…
But wait, there’s more!
When I started replacing all those cool animated gifs, I thought it might be a good idea to have an email subscription form somewhere… so I decided to try one here. And it’s here. Only problem is, when I added one, it doubled itself and made two. And when I deleted it, it didn’t delete… well… it deleted but it’s still there and not editable… so I can’t put in the feedburner link… or at least I haven’t figured out how to link it properly… so, heads up to the 3 people who might read this. Don’t use the email subscription thingy yet – at least not until I’m sure it’s working properly.
Another sigh….
Plumbing Issues
Well, my super cool and fun Ask The Plumber page quit working after the first day. So, I have devised a fix and a work around, which I hope will actually work. I’d love it if someone would actually go and check it out for me and let me know if it’s still working or if it’s broken again. I love that little script and I really hope it continues to work for everyone. When I asked him how to fix his widget, he told me to: “Hit it with a hammer, hard.” LOL
I think it's time to go shopping... maybe even buy some really cool stuff at my online shops!!
